'Iran ready to send peacekeepers to UK'
Source: Press TV (Iran)

The Ashura brigades of Basij forces are ready to be deployed to London as peacekeeping forces,” Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naqdi said on Thursday, Fars news agency reported.

Naqdi criticized the British authorities for their harsh crackdown of protesters and describing them as rioters and hooligans.

“Unfortunately the crimes and violence of the autocratic British kingdom continues against the country's deprived and not only the advice of well-wishers has no effect on the conduct of the regime's repressive police force but we witness the deprived people of this country are being called a bunch of thieves and looters,” he regretted.

Naqdi referred to UK Prince Williams' lavish wedding and the high cost of its live coverage and described the recent uprisings in Britain as the result of “big mistakes” by British officials and warned them of even more severe consequences.

3. I didn't think countries got to refuse 'help' anymore ........
Heck, rioting and death seem much more of an excuse to rush in with 'help' than yellow-cake and fantasy mushroom clouds. Of course I'm kidding, as is Iran, but it's nice to see a few barbs aimed at hypocrites once in a while.

8. Yes, what a wonderful idea.
Let's let the people who punish people just for being gay by killing them and have a history of following other draconic laws "keep control".

What could possibly go wrong?

exactly how anyone can spot that someone looting is gay ? Is that something subtle which makes being masked up meaningless ?

12. It's a moronic idea
from a country that jails and kills their protesters. If your post wasn't sarcasm, you seriously need to get a clue.

16. And 'policing' everyone else...
While I'm all in favour of punishing convicted thieves, I am NOT in favour of cutting their hands off. Nor am I in favour of repression of everyone and ten times as much repression if you happen (as I do) to be female.

I'd much rather live in a democracy, with all its failings, than in a theocratic police state.

that? Shoot to kill (when it's only protesters)? Seriously?

6. Do they really want their forces to be sent over?
Would one likely consequence be that those forces would be exterminated once they are deployed in the streets? Especially when word gets out that foreign troops are policing them?

21. All Britain has to do is take them up on the offer
And then commence to destroying them a la post#6. The Iranian regime's tongue wouldn't be able to find its cheek again for quite awhile, I feel certain.

24. No - it's not a serious suggestion; just a piece of gloating
Besides, I'm sure the Iranian government want to keep their troops at home for the next time there's a bit of dissent.

Sending Iranians in would not stem this hatred.

17. Muslims in the UK are mostly of South Asian or Turkish origin, not Arabs.
But I agree that there is no problem so bad that can't be made worse by Iranian government and police.

But this is not a serious suggeston in any case; it's just gloating.

23. Lol! So much hypocrisy on Iran, so little time for job creation, schools, taxing the rich
and saving social programs, regulating banksters, thinking twice about war, curtailing war profiteers, strengthening unions, opposing outsourcing, insisting on decent wages, giving kids a good example on honesty and social conscience, encouraging genuine public participation, ending racism and classism in the police forces, promoting civil rights, and all things that good governments do to forestall despondent rioting by the poor and neglected.

Warmongering on Iraq...um, Iran...and no time for the "cannon fodder."

Plenty of time for targeting more oil on the Big Dartboard, and no time for the impending demise of Planet Earth.

Plenty of time for Murdoch, no time for the downtrodden.

It's no surprise to me that kids are despairing and looting and wrecking things. They're just imitating their "betters."

So ironic that this barb comes from Iran. Ironic and strangely appropriate. The U.S./U.K. have been mugging Iran for more than 50 years. They have a right to a smartass comment in reply.
