Rick Perry accuses Barack Obama of betraying Israel over Palestinian bid
Source: guardian.co.uk

The confrontation over the Palestinian bid to win recognition as a state at the United Nations shifted to the US presidential race when Rick Perry, the leading Republican contender, accused Barack Obama of appeasing terrorists and betraying Israel.

Perry, at a campaign rally in New York, launched a stinging attack on Obama's handing of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, accusing him of abandoning America's ally in favour of the "Arab street" in the Egyptian revolution, as diplomatic wrangling continued to try to head off a showdown in the UN security council over the Palestinian request for statehood.

8. Well then, I hope his betrayal of Israel is as strong and effective...
as his betrayal of the "professional left". :eyes:

Seriously? How is he betraying Israel when the US is prepared to veto Palestine's bid to be recognized as a state?

12. What a fuck ass.....
Obama has already said the U.S. will block this in the Security Council and push this back to the bargaining table.

Problem is the Israelis continue to build their will and their settlements despite U.S. opposition. And they do this with my tax dollars.

Don't get me wrong. I support Israel's right to peace and prosperity but their policies have subjected ordinary Palestinians to a ghetto life for decades. If I were a young Palestinian I think martyrdom as a suicide bomber would look very attractive.

The U.S. has never changed its policy vis a vis Israel. It was one thing to supper them unconditionally when they were a nascent state and dependent on the material and moral support of other nations. That is no longer the case and the U.S. - Israeli relationship needs to begin to reflect that change.

Blatant political opportunism during an ongoing sensitive "situation" is not acceptable behavior.

Get in the back seat and shut up, dumbass.

21. Morning Joe ripped Perry and Romney over this.
Not just their positions they've taken, but making these statements now when the UN is meeting to discuss Israeli/Palestinian issues.
