A massive fire is burning at Magnablend Inc, a chemical manufacturing plant in Waxahachie. The fire broke out around 11 a.m Monday, sending huge plumes of black smoke and explosions into the air.

Magnablend is a custom blend chemical company, which stores chemicals that may be hazardous to the environment. The company has three facilities in Waxahachie. The fire is burning at the company's Central Facility, located near West 287 and I-35E.

Nearby areas have been evacuated, including the Navarro College campus in Ellis County and Wedgeworth Elementary School. Wedgeworth students are being bussed across town to Waxahachie 9th Grade Academy.

State Highway 287 has been shutdown. Ellis County Office of Emergency Management officials are also evacuating the area near the SH 287 and I-35E interchange, including residents at the Solon Place Apartments.

Working at a Texas chemical plant has got to be some kind of hell.

10. The only kind of "hell" that comes with working in a chem plant
is the noise and the heat, the latter from either the summers here or whatever piece of equipment you're working around that gives off a lot of heat (like a furnace.)

5. From KYTX:Flames and fumes from the blaze are so intense that fire crews will let it burn itself out

http://www.cbs19.tv/story/15604907/waxahachie-chemical-warehouse">Here. I also read a report that at least one firetruck was actually engulfed by the flames and that the situation is crazy-dangerous even for a chemical fire.

11. No pun intended, but holy smokes!
I watched the video where the stuff running out the warehouse door, liquid spreading and on fire, moves toward the fire engine. The firefighters seem pretty calm, walking around the truck, passing between the truck and the fire, casually lighting up a cigarette (okay, that one's made up, but it wouldn't have surprised me to see it) before the engine is totally engulfed, at which point they start doing the sane thing, running for their lives. If I had been there, it would have been useless for one of them to turn to me and say, "Let's go," because I wouldn't have been there to hear it. Zooooom!

8. Safety regulations cost jobs.
Just think of all the firemen who'd be unemployed if chemical plants actually had to be safe?
