Longtime CBS correspondent Robert Pierpoint dies

Family members say longtime CBS News correspondent Robert Pierpoint - who covered the Korean War, the Kennedy assassination and several presidential administrations - has died in California.

Daughter Marta Pierpoint says her father died Saturday at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital of complications from surgery after falling and breaking his hip on Oct. 12. He was 86.

... After making his name covering the Korean War, a role he reprised when he provided his radio voice for the final episode of "MASH" in 1983, Pierpoint became a White House correspondent during the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration, a position he would hold through the Jimmy Carter administration.

2. the news is boring now
back then it was exciting if such a word would be used.. as in it was actual news. not opinion
