Police break up Occupy Richmond encampment
Source: Richmond Times Dispatch

Richmond and Virginia State Police today broke up an encampment of Occupy Richmond protesters who had been camping at Kanawha Plaza downtown since Oct. 15.

Police officials would not immediately comment on the operation, which occurred about 1 a.m. when officers went to the public park and gave the protesters a chance to leave. Many did; those who did not were taken into custody.

Authorities said trespassing charges were likely.

Police did not use force and there were no injuries, putting the shutdown of the Richmond operation in contrast to those in some other cities where people have gathered to protest what they view as inequities on Wall Street.

1. No injuries, good. Arrests, bad.
Another Democratic Mayor hassling the 99%.

Infuriating.

4. I am sorry, but I may be missing your point.
Is it that Mayors don't actually arrest people? If so, yes, I know.

However, I also know who hires, fires and signs the paycheck of the chief of police.

In many of these cities, the Democratic Mayor has issued a warning that the demonstrators need to move on, which is following within a short time, sometimes 30 or so hours, by police action, as happened in Oakland and Boston, among other cities. So the connection between the mayoral action and police action is hard to deny.

Or is your point different?

Or were you simply being sarcastic?

5. They both often require sanitation facilities, though.

6. Similar situation here in North Carolina. The Democratic Secretary of Administration,
operating under a Democratic Governor, had occupiers arrested for sitting on a sidewalk even though there was almost six feet of space for pedestrians to walk on.

This kind of crap is another reason that the Democratic party is going down the tubes. We USED to be the party of the working class. Now we are the party of Corporate power.

Burn them up with emails and calls demanding that they stop trampling our First Amendment rights.

If we cannot trust the Democratic leaders to help protect our rights, who CAN we trust??
