Rep. Sam Farr, House members question California pot club crackdown
Source: Santa Cruz Sentinel

Several members of California's Congressional delegation are taking their concerns about a federal crackdown on the state's medical marijuana dispensaries directly to President Obama.

In a bipartisan letter signed by nine members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the lawmakers criticized what they called an "unconscionable" multi-state effort targeting medical marijuana dispensaries. They also called for the reclassification of marijuana as a controlled substance subject to fewer federal restrictions.

"It is critically important for patients to have safe access to this treatment that continues to be recommended by doctors. California voters decided to adopt clear regulations to allow patients to do just that. It is unfortunate that the federal government has decided to target these legal vendors instead of focusing limited resources on those who sell illicit drugs," said Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel.

... The letter was signed by Farr and six other California House members, including Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. Joining them were Democrats Steve Cohen of Tennessee and Jared Polis of Colorado.

1. Obama claims to be a champion of bipartisanship but he will
shrug this off just 'cause he doesn't like it.

3. This issue is a no-brainer

When Big Pharma, For-Profit Prison and Beer Lobbyists bawl like babies at any talk of decriminalization or legalization, you know rescheduling cannabis might benefit Americans.

Big Pharma, For-Profit Prison and Beer Corporations don't want anyone cutting into their profits, no matter how much their obsessive, evil greed is killing this nation.

Kudos to all Congresspeople involved here and to our own awesome Steve Cohen :applause:

4. The Feds are cracking down on drugs in the wrong place
They should be cracking down on dope on Wall Street, where drug use and God knows what else run rampant.

8. Why don't the Cal. police protect the pot outlets?
If it's legal in California then the police should be called when
the Feds come in a start to cause problems

Secondly, why doesn't Jerry Brown stand up and tell the Feds to stay
the hell out of California and stop harassing his people??!!

11. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution of the United States.

Legally, cities and towns cannot even require mail trucks to stop for red lights.

Maybe the feds require them to stop, or their own desire to live, but a city can't.

At least that is what I once heard. I never verified, though.

10. Only two Democrats from another state joined them?
At the very least, the entire proressive caucus should have joined them.
