California Supreme Court to decide Proposition 8 (standing) issue Thursday

The California Supreme Court will decide Thursday whether to allow supporters of Proposition 8 to defend California's ban on same-sex marriage.

Based on the tenor of the justices' questions during arguments in September, it appeared likely the Supreme Court would permit Proposition 8's legal team to defend the voter-approved law, which would push the ongoing legal battle in a federal appeals court.

2. I wish we'd just give them their own state and let it cede from the nation

Give them Utah - we could do a home/job swap between the liberals in that state and the fundies who want to move there. Or South Carolina, wasn't there some agenda where fundies were all moving to South Carolina so they could create their own country.

I hate putting the equal marriage rights of Californians at risk, but its the best chance we've had (and probably will have) for a long time to have the SCOTUS nationalize those rights.

5. Proposition 8's Next Day in Court

On November 17th California Supreme Court ruled that the sponsors of Proposition 8 have a right to defend the ban in court since the governor and state attorney refuse to.
