Occupy Richmond protesters back Tea Party against city
Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Despite political differences with the conservative Tea Party movement, anti-Wall Street protesters in Richmond, Virginia, have come out in support of the local Tea Party group against "unfair" treatment from the city.

After the city accused the Richmond Tea Party of being overdue on tax filings, Occupy Richmond issued a statement saying "it would not surprise us" if the move was "retaliation" for the Tea Party's criticism of Mayor Dwight Jones.

The Tea Party had previously charged Jones with applying city ordinances unequally to the benefit of Occupy Richmond in respect to its encampment in a downtown plaza.

The city eventually took action against Occupy Richmond, which is critical of alleged unfairness in the U.S. economic system, and earlier this week three Occupy members were reportedly ordered to pay fines after convictions on trespassing charges following an October police raid of the encampment.

3. The biggest fear of the neocons/corporatists...
...is that the tea party types and OWS will be united.

That is the day that we begin defeating them. We can't do it divided.

I know it seems implausible. We disagree on so much. However, we should all
be able to agree that corrupt politicians who are owned by corporations have no
business holding public office--and that a country run by corporations is not
a democracy--it's the exact definition of Fascism.

My hope is that we all unite. If we have no democracy--we're all going down.

4. San Diego Tea Brats
have asked San Diego OWS to join them. I don't trust the tps at all.

I see the difference between OWS and tea brats. The tea brats would NEVER do what OWS has done in Richmond and I don't think that the tps appreciate it neither (this shows weakness), per se.

5. The enemy of my enemy is my ally
No harm in reaching out, carefully. Most individual Tea Partiers are also 99 percenters. They're being used.

8. They're our neighbors.
They're angry and disturbed about the same stuff we are. They're just blaming it on the wrong causes.

9. That's exactly right...
...and many of them listen to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

I listen to Beck and Limbaugh, and their programs are very intoxicating and entertaining. These
people know how to shovel out propaganda and blame the real problems of the country on the
wrong people.

These right-wing talk shows are all funded and organized by the elites. There is a very big
connection between Beck and the Koch Brothers. I've been listening to talk radio since the
early 1990's and if you pay attention--they are all speaking the same talking points. Every
day, their soundbytes and messaging is coordinated. It's orchestrated from up top. I've worked
in PR for many years, and I know a campaign when I hear one.

These tea partiers have been duped. They're being used. How long before they realize it? They'll
need a place to land and they'll also need people who understand and want to help them process what
is truly happening in this country.

I agree. They are our neighbors. I have a neighbor who is a tea partier. He's not a bad person, but
boy is he misguided and totally drunk on Glenn Beck. These people are just people. They're being
fed enormous lies and they're being made to hate liberals. It's up to us to change things.

Hating them and fueling this artificial division only helps the corporations that have stolen nearly
everything from us. Division is, in part, how they've pulled off their crimes, thus far.

7. puke...
Not long ago the TP was bitching about the city supposedly giving preferential treatment to Occupy Richmond, and now Occupy Richmond (or at least a person who claims to speak for it) are being useful idiots and carrying water for the teabagger's vendetta against the mayor...

I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it reads to me...
