Mitt Romney Wins: Iowa Caucus Results 2012

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was projected the winner of Tuesday night's Iowa caucus.

Romney emerged victorious over former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum by a razor-thin margin of 8 votes.

Heading into the leadoff vote of the 2012 election season, recent polls showed Romney holding a slim lead over rival contenders U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Santorum.

In 2008, Romney poured $10 million into his campaign in Iowa, but ultimately came in second place behind former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Paul placed third in the contest.

Despite running for Prez since he was Gov. of Massachusetts, despite outspending Santorum by a lot, Romney "won" Iowa by all of 8 votes, just votes more than he got in Iowa four years ago.

And the clown chugs along.

Perry, with 10%, says he is going home to reassess.

Bachman with 5% says she is pushing on.

I have not heard about Huntsman yet.

The real winners, IMO, are Santorum and Paul.

With such a small win after all this, Romney should be nothing but embarrassed, but he and his grinning family are brazening it out.

But in the end, part of a Mitt stuck out through the Santorum. ;-)

He's going on to South Carolina, apparently bypassing NH, and she is bowing out.

I wish I could somehow post the sound that the horn in a clown car makes.

than Romney got in Iowa four years ago, not six more.
