Ken Lay, Wife Lose $889,000 on Property
Ken Lay, Wife Lose $889,000 on Property

ASPEN, Colo. (AP)--Former Enron chairman Ken Lay and his wife, Linda, took nearly $1 million in losses in selling their four properties in town.

The couple closed the sale of their last property here, a nearly 5,000-square-foot-home, for $5.5 million Thursday, according to listing broker Joshua Saslove.

The Lays posted a $620,000 loss for the four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath house that they paid $6.1 million for in August 2000, based on Pitkin County assessor's records.

The couple also lost $269,000 on another four-bedroom house they sold in March for $4.5 million.

2. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That's really a darn shame ...

... that they only lost a million.

Now, if he lost EVERYTHING, that would be closer to what he deserves.

3. Darn
One whole year of his Enron pension plan (sheltered from claims of course) down the tubes.

Guess he'll have to tap into his $100 million nest egg to fund his life style.

30. They probably...
worked a DEAL w/ whoever bought the properties and kept the sale price DOWN and were pd the rest in cash under the table so to speak...thus keeping the taxes lower....There's MANY people who do it this way, the same on cars..Don't forget, Lay is no dummie and knows the way around the track!

5. Wow these poor people are really taking it in the shorts
It is unconscienable that two people who screwed so many people should be experiencing such losses on their ill gotten gains. How are other political contributors to react when they see the astronomical losses the Lays are experiencing while being one of Bush's biggest supporters? This is an atrocity that will forever damage the finance of campaigns if huge contributors cannot expect some assistance from the government in their time of sorrow and attachment to the things they stole in life.

*sniff* *sorry this just fucks me up SO BAD* *sniff* *really I need to go mourn in private* *sniff* *stop staring at me like that* *sniff*

9. why hasn't asscroft put this criminal in jail ??????
asscroft seems to be awful busy with things like:

investigating a bush* constitutional amendment to change states' decisions about who can marry whom...

prosecuting states who determine the right-to-die in dignity

taking cases about sex all the way to the Supreme Court...

fighting the U of Michigan's diversity...

Would it be possible to get asscroft off his ass, and have him put some people in jail who are really criminals: like bush* friend and financier: Kenny-boy ???

28. Cry me a FARKIN River!
Asshole only lost 660 kilobucks.
*I* was forclosed on, and not only took a 75 kilobuck loss, but my credit's screwed, too.

BTW, I took 75 kilobucks loss, Kenny Boy took 660 kilobucks. Now, who got the bigger bath? My annual income was only about 37 kilobucks when the house went down the tubes. Did Kenny-Ken only make 370 kilobucks that year? I didn't think so.

His 660 Kilobucks was like me dropping a quarter and seeing it roll under a coke machine.

Where is Ken Lay? (Enron)

Got a mention on CBS news tonight. He's holed up in his Texas mansion. Could be indictment in the next week or two, or maybe in 6 months. The reporter really said that.

maybe she can go work at her local Walmart for minimum wage and work overtime without overtime pay. That way she will be able to (only)dream about what she'd like to buy with her hard earned paycheck.
