Airstrikes in Iraqi town of Fallujah hit vehicle, building: military

BS Alert...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040428/wl_mideast_afp/iraq_us_fallujah&cid=1514&ncid=1480

<snip>
Marines took rocket-propelled grenade and direct fire and called air support to engage a vehicle transporting weapons and personnel," said US Marine Major T.V. Johnson, a spokesman for the US Marines at Camp Fallujah.

He said a heavily armed AC-130 aeroplane "hit the target ... the anti-Iraqi forces fled to a nearby building. The aircraft shot at the building."

<snip>
He said the AC-130 Specter gunship, which is notably armed with 105 mm. Howitzer guns, is built for precision targeting. "There is no doubt it hit the targets," he said.

The airstrikes were conducted shortly after the US Marines came under fire at 10:00 p.m. (1400 GMT) Tuesday, Johnson told AFP.

1. Damn it, I can't TAKE this!
I mean, I know I have no right to feel terrible considering the horror the Iraqi people are suffering under - but those AC-130s are from my dad's old unit.

Every time I read or hear that Spectre gunships have hit a mosque or bombed civilian homes, I can't stop remembering that I've been on the same type of aircraft - maybe even one of the ones in Iraq.

It makes me sick to my stomach. The whole insane mess does. I want this to end! It's all madness, and we're not stopping it. I don't even know if we could, or how!

I pray for combat refusals like in Viet Nam. Only the soldiers themselves can ensure war crimes are not committed. Every time a U.S. sniper hits a kid in Fallujah, it makes it that much harder to give a fuck about the troops at all, and I don't want to feel that way. It's a horrible feeling.

God, why couldn't this have been prevented? We are so lost as a nation.

2. After looking at these babies they let go back to Falluja....
yesterday, I can not imagine how anyone could bomb the crap out of that city. We are killing hundreds of Iraqis for 4 dead mercenaries. Do the soldiers think about that? I hope for combat refusals too. This is beyond comprehension.

4. The double-speak is mind-boggling
Proof that the so-called journalists are just as evil as the masters
they serve.

To the Hague with them!

5. "the anti-Iraqi forces "
Yeah when I read that I thought WTF?

The US is purposefully destroying this city and massacering anyone that moves to show all of Iraq what will happen if they down't bow down to US force!

6. Reuters says homes were destroyed
It's sad that I believe not a thing that the US says.
