Man whose dogs killed son indicted

CHARLOTTE -- The Charlotte man whose pit bulls fatally mauled his 8-year-old son has been indicted on federal drug and weapons charges.
A federal grand jury indicted Roddie Dumas, 29, on charges that stem from the guns and drugs police say they found in a search of Dumas' Charlotte home after the April 16 attack that killed Roddie Dumas Jr.
Dumas also could face state charges stemming from the death of his son. Police, who are still investigating, say state prosecutors could consider charges ranging from child neglect to murder.

Dumas was jailed under $233,000 bond. He also was charged with state drug and weapon felonies after his four pit bulls mauled Roddie to death in the fenced-in back yard of their home.

The federal indictment accuses Dumas of possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute, using and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking offense and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.

news like makes me forget that I'm a christian. Sounds like time for some slow torture. Like send the guy to one of our staunch allies like Uzbekistan. A nice slow boiling is just what he deserves.

The guy certainly needs to be locked up, but I just never get when so-called christians advocate torture. A slow boiling... I'm sure you would want him fully conscious for that. Yeah, I bet that's exactly what jesus would do.

but Chrisitanity strongly advocates fire and brimstone and torments everlasting for those who are not of the faith.
All that is being suggested is that this fellow get to it a little sooner than most.

more to punish this guy given the guilt and torment this man will live with for the rest of his life.

As someone who owned a dog who was part pit-bull for eleven years, I am getting really tired of reading these stories. I couldn't trust mine around children at all, and even if I could have I wouldn't have. It's too much of a chance to take for an animal that can exert 1800 lbs of pressure per square inch with it's bite.

Just last month in my town, a little girl named Guadelupe was mauled by three pits belonging to her neighbor, they were tethered and had escaped. A local minister was driving by and saw her, the dogs were attacking her and one had her head in it's mouth. He turned his car around and went back and he and a neighbor pulled the dogs off of her. It was a true miracle that she survived, because in her picture in the paper you could see all the wounds were on her face and all over her head. But she was in good spirits, after just a week her only complaints were that her scabs were itchy and the nurses at the hospital had cut her hair to look "like a boy". She was so truly lucky.
