Poll Finds Public Doubts on Iraq Rising

13 minutes ago Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

WASHINGTON - Public doubts are growing about Iraq (news - web sites) and President Bush (news - web sites)'s handling of the war nearly a year after he declared an end to major combat, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Americans are evenly split on whether taking military action in Iraq was the right thing to do, the CBS News-New York Times poll found.

Less than half, 47 percent, said taking military action in Iraq was the right thing to do, and about the same number, 46 percent, said the United States should have stayed out of the country.

Only a month ago, 58 percent said the military action was right, and 37 percent said it was not. The increase in doubts comes as U.S. troops have been involved in deadly fighting against insurgents in two Iraqi cities.

2. Wait till those plane loads of body bags start coming home...
...Our military are now stealing Howitzer canons from U.S. ski sloops to ship to Iraq. How prepared is that??? The Humvees that shuttle our troops around Iraq have no armor plate and are death traps for our soldiers. At $85,000.00 each, I would have thought the manufacturer could have installed armor protection. This war and those running it are so corrupt, I'm ready to :puke:

3. Military industrial complex
corruption was big during Vietnam too. I think the MIC exists just to siphon off taxpayer money. Just look at the taxpayer money bush has given away: missile defence in Alaska, development of smallpox and anthrax vacines(remember when he was going to vacinate everyone for smallpox and there were no recorded cases in the world?), changing from cheap jeeps to hummers which weren't made to be tanks, no-bid contracts for BIG money and poor delivery for Iraq, putting out a new nickle for no reason....I know there is lots more. I wouldn't be suprised if the anthrax scare was done by bush to give his cronies a fat contract to develop a vaccine.

5. Military-industrial-media complex.
Let's not forget the third member of this triangle -- the media.

8. Manufacturer Was Busy Building Tax-Deductable H2s for Arnie & his Friends
They were going flat-out building Hummer H2's for all the rich folks who
were buying them for the special super-heavyweight gas-guzzler tax deduction.

You think I'm kidding?
I wish I were.

All the while Bush* and his cronies KNEW they were going to war.
Wouldn't ya think that the excess capacity at the Hummer factory
could have been put to better use?

4. It's a Mess-o-potamia
as the Daily Show points out.

This is a fiasco. Quagmire almost sound benign by comparison to relaity.

7. People are stupid
A war is either the right thing to do or the wrong thing to do. The lower numbers as our casualties rise indicate that for many people, wars are right or wrong in proportion to how difficult they are.

9. "Stay the course" = "Peace with honor"
The more Americans become disenchanted with our occupation in Iraq, the better the chances that our cowardly politicians will get the courage to pull the troops out as Zapatero did in Spain.
