Judge Roy Moore loses appeal.
This is not on CNN, or anywhere else yet. It is a personal scoop.

If you're not from Alabama, you may not have been paying attention to this.

Alabama Supreme Court Judge Roy Moore was removed from office by the rest of the justices on the court for disobeying a federal court order to remove the 5 ton granite monument to the 10 commandments which he had moved into the court rotunda in the dead of night.

He has appealed this ruling.

A friend who served on the Court of the Judiciary to decide whether the ousting should be permanent just dropped off a copy of the decision:

"Conclusion
In addition to hearing oral arguments in this case, this Court has thoroughly reviewed the record on appeal and has carefully studied the briefs submitted by the parties. We conclude that the judgment of the Court of the Judiciary is fully supported by clear and convincing evidence, as is the imposition of the penalty of removing Chief Justice Moore from office. The judgment of the Court of the Judiciary is hereby affirmed in it's entirety."

7. Yup
He can be our Nader. I'll send him money just like the Republicans are funding Ralph "asshole" Nader. Unfortunately the right is probably not dumb enough to fall for it (unlike some "progresives").

21. Seriously, your "ticket-splitting shit" is a great chess move.
And, frankly,...it is a common move on the "right-wing" side.

Nader learned that,...and accepted it.

So, now you see.

4. Alabama is still like another planet
..as I found out when I drove the length of that state on my way back from Florida last fall. The radio stations were Judge Moore, all the time, and the stuff was pure poison. I would sincerely hope the Kerry campaign doesn't waste a nickel on that state, considering what I heard of their good citizens as I drove through.

There does seem to be some sanity in their courts, even if the majority of citizens are flying high on the poisoned opiate of old time religion.

Elmer Gantry Moore shouln't worry, though. If Bush cheats his way to another 4 years, he's got a cabinet position. With his diplomatic skills, I can well see him replacing Colin Powell. If we don't get Diebolded, there's always the CBN or a right wing stink tank who will greatly appreciate his star power and imppecable credentials as a total babbling lunatic.

It always a really good sign, when the most conservative states make rational decisions. It means progressive thinking has a foothold.

some of judge moore's positions

George W. Bush campaigned as a responsible fiscal conservative, but he has created the largest budget deficits in history. As Pastor William Baldwin points out, under Bush's leadership, the Republican Congress has outspent their Democratic predecessors. Bush's policies raise our local taxes, and George W. Bush has yet to veto a single spending bill.

Under George W. Bush, the Republican Party has become the party of big government. The government has grown bigger and bigger, with more agencies and bureaucracies and enforcement programs.

George W. Bush seems to have a problem being honest. Bush has been caught in many lies. He's lied about September 11. He's lied about Iraq. He's lied about his budget. The sad fact is that George W. Bush has lost all the moral authority that a President of the United States must have. Bush is a poor example for our children, who we try to teach to be honest.

America is supposed to be the land of freedom, not the land of spies. Yet, George W. Bush has created new programs for the government to spy on ordinary, law-abiding Americans. Through the Patriot Act and Total Information Awareness, Bush has made America the land of Big Brother.

as a former Alabama resident I am very pleased to see that state moving away from becoming a total theocracy.

I will never in my life forget when Gov. Fob James did the "monkey dance" to criticize evolution.

20. Are you sure that's a good idea?
I hear there there are three thousand Pat Buchanan voters somewhere in Palm Beach County worth picking up. I'd rather focus on those people than stooping to the skullduggery of our opponents.

Inspect every voting machine before the election--send your spurious campaign contributions to that goal instead, and we have a chance of being mandated winners, instead of the dishonorable victors who rule your lives today.
