Iraqis see chaos after U.S. hires Saddam generals
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/OWE235315.htm

BAGHDAD, May 2 (Reuters) - Washington risks plunging Iraq into further chaos by employing Saddam Hussein generals to appease an anti-U.S. insurgency, Iraqi leaders once in the forefront of opposition to the ousted dictator said on Sunday.

U.S. forces turned to General Jasim Mohamed Saleh, who headed a battalion in the disbanded Republican Guards, and another Sunni Muslim general for help in pacifying Falluja after U.S. forces besieged the city west of Baghdad for nearly a month.

U.S. military leaders insist, however, Saleh has not been given control of Falluja.

While acknowledging that Saleh, from the Sunni Muslim Dulaimi tribe, could help calm Falluja, politicians and Governing Council members said Iraq would become more unstable in the longer run as the United States puts defeated Baath Party members back in senior positions.

1. More fighting, coming soon ...
It will be interesting to see how things work out
with Saleh in Faloojah, what he does, who he talks to.

2. Only two things this Saddam General can do.....
1. Kill his own people on behalf of the USA....bush gave this as one of the reasons for going to war; Saddam killed his own people.

2. Kill Americans, after he has accepted bushe's million dollar bribes.

Either way, the General is at a win-win situtation.

3. Those are the comments of the discredited Iraqi exiles
the same morons that told us Saddam had WMDs and that US troops would be welcomed with singing and dancing in the streets.

9. Agreed they are both scum but there is truth to his analogy of US "plans"
<"The Americans seem to think they are in a kitchen, constantly cooking a meal in which ingredients are thrown in until something works," said Hamid al-Bayati, a senior official in the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.>

4. Has there ever been a more incompetent administration in the US?
These are supposed to be the "adults in charge?"
We could almost get a Constitutional amendment to fix it so that Clinton could run again for President after this Bush mis-administration.

12. Jesus and God, I must be down to His toes...
I got candles burning asking Mary to please intervene. Let us see some light, give us hope. God please punish these corrupt haters of God sitting in the White House. Punish them for the crimes they are committing against Humanity, Mother Earth and Christianity.

God, you know that we fought against this criminal war, and lost. Don't punish all of us for their crimes. We tried to stop it.

Amen

15. A shape with a lion body and the head of a man
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again.

14. Sistani and al-Sadr are probably livid that the USA has hired...
...Saddam's Republican Guard generals to police Fallujah. The balance of power appears to be shifting back to the Sunni Baaths thanks to the Pentagon. Of course that only inflames the Shiites even more.

Just when I think the Coalition can't do any more harm to our troops, Bremer amazes me with even greater feats of folly.

The top Iraqi Gen. has told US that there are no foreign insurgents in Faluja. The US Military still insists there are. The Gen. is spozed to get the insurgents to turn over their weapons. They have not done so and most likely will not. The US Military says they will go back in if these Generals can't deliver. This battle is far from over!
