Bremer "takes back" statements that Bush ignored terror
AP - L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. administrator in Iraq , said Sunday he regrets a statement he made more than six months before the Sept. 11 attacks that the Bush administration was "paying no attention" to terrorism.

Bremer said any implied criticism that President Bush was not acting against terrorism was "unfair."

Ahead of the November election, Bush is facing criticism he didn't make terrorism his No. 1 priority before the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center and then weakened the war on terror by invading Iraq and shifting the focus from Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network. The resurfacing of Bremer's comments added to administration frustrations.

At a McCormick Tribune Foundation conference on terrorism on Feb. 26, 2001, Bremer said, "The new administration seems to be paying no attention to the problem of terrorism. What they will do is stagger along until there's a major incident and then suddenly say, 'Oh, my God, shouldn't we be organized to deal with this?'

"That's too bad. They've been given a window of opportunity with very little terrorism now, and they're not taking advantage of it."

1. Sorry. Can't do.No... once said it is said, recorded, and published.
That is like Condi changing her statement about nobody being able to foresee an attack using planes against buildings. Well, on the other hand, we could just take the presidency away from Bush. If they can take their statements back we can take our White House back.

Well, now "ignoring terrorism" has changed to "profiting from terrorism" -
As Proconsul, the opportunities for once-in-a-lifetime profits have, shall we say, altered his perspective.

Bremer must have been threatened by bu$h and his gang of thugs. People ought to know by now you don't speak against a dictator. Especially the idiot in thief.Journalists won't tell the truth on the bu$h gang because they fear for their lives. That's why we have such a rotten media...they are afraid. It's disgraceful it has come to this, especially from this asswipe that wasn't even elected in the first place.

6. It wasn't Bremer who made these statements
It was his evil twin brother. Furthermore, we will all wake up soon and discover that the last season of "BFEE" was all a dream.
