Barge flips over in Texas as partygoers crane to spy nude beach

AUSTIN, Texas – Some 60 "Splash Day" revelers hoping to see nude sunbathers tipped over their double-decker barge when they crowded one side of the vessel.

They were rescued Sunday from Lake Travis, including two with minor injuries, authorities said.

What fond memories of happier times when I was one of the naked hippies at the hollow, now thirty plus years ago!! Lake Travis is a wonderful recreation spot. My best friend, Charlie, and I used to sail his catamaran at top speed all over that great body of water, passing ski boats as we flew the hull.

Man, I miss Austin.

I use to work at Hippie Hollow. Splash Day happened twice a year and the place was a madhouse. Not only were there nude sunbathers (there's always nude sunbathers at HH) but probably folks in weird costumes and wild parties on the boats moored offshore. HH is normally a stare-a-thon for folks, doubly so on Slash Day.

It was a gay event happening on the beach. Whoever the gawkers were, they were interested in seeing a bunch of gay dudes on the beach.

(Austin, Texas) Two people were rushed to hospital Sunday with non life threatening injuries when a boat sank at Splash Day. Reports from the scene say all 60 people on board are accounted for.

The double deck boat was approaching Hippie Hollow the site of the annual gay party on Lake Travis when it keeled over. Witnesses said that the accident occurred when passengers rushed to the side of the boat to get a better view of the party which attracts people from throughout the state.

The vessel was almost at the shore when the accident happened.

Sheriff's divers searched the submerged boat to see if anyone had become trapped and after more than an hour said that everyone had been accounted for.

This was the 25th annual Splash Day and the first serious incident at the clothing optional event.

The upstairs sauna area of Kristall Terme is always nude. On Fridays, the entire place is, downstairs pools and all. It's a concept I don't see "taking off" in the states, unlike the caffe latte.

Even the mixed ones. We also take our children with us. Who would wear swimming suits or stuff in a sauna?

we had a sauna evening in our village of 30. Puritanical Connecticut Yankee that I was then, as soon as I realized eveyone would be naked I politely declined to participate. Little Ludwig, 4 at the time, promised he wouldn't look at me if that would make me feel embarrassed. All the kids tried to convince me, telling me in their kid deutsch what a lovely feeling it was to splash in the cold pond afterwards and how much fun it would be. I'd always made time to play with them and romp through the forest that surrounded us, they simply could not understand what my problem was...

is kind of disturbing to me. There are mostly naked old men there staring at you as you undress.. I've heard stories of guys hiding in the bushes and spying on nude sunbathers. They kind of make the hollow an unattractive place to hang out.

A lot of guys complain that there aren't many women at the nude beaches but the guys are the reason that's the case. The thing to do is go as a couple and stay with the other couples. It kind of intimidates gawkers when a woman's husband or boyfriend is present.

Glad nobody was seriously injured. Must have happened prettey fast when she went over.

While trekking down to the local nude beach with my buddy and a few of his college friends (SLO State), we noticed a group of about 6 or 8 guys perched up along the bluffs with binoculars trying to get a good look at all the nekkid folks down below.

Basically they were a familiar site which was either ignored, or sometimes they'd be challenged to come on down and join the fun.

The never did. Well... almost never.

As a group of us were passin around a giant doobie and nakedly discussing politics and cosmology, we heard a noise and a loud yell. And damned if one of the 'looky-loos' hadn't leaned over too far and fallen off the cliff.

Somehow this dude did a perfect somersault flip onto his back in the soft sand, and his only injuries were having his breathe knocked out of him, as well as a look of utter horror and embarrassment.

Thing is... Of all his Bino-Buddies, he got the best look at us nekkid heathens since about 30 or 40 of us guys and gals ran up and surrounded him to make sure he was alright.

He seemed a tad afraid, but we finally calmed him down.

Just like I've always suspected, sexual repression can be very bad for your health.
