Hundreds Protest President Bush
Let the marches begin ...

http://www.wilx.com/news/headlines/742972.html
The President stopped in Kalamazoo to rally Republican support in the key battleground of Michigan, but was met with hundreds of protesters before his speech.

About 300 people showed up to voice their disapproval of the President.

Concerns ranged from gay rights to the environment to the economy to the war in Iraq.

There were some outside of the venue that voiced support for the president, however for every one Bush supporter, there were approximately 30 demonstrating against him.

3. Too many varied reasons to dislike Shrub ...

"Concerns ranged from gay rights to the environment to the economy to the war in Iraq."

Everyone has a reason that they 'turned' against Shrub, the reason just varies from person to person.

And we'll never convert that last 35% of hard-cores ... who would vote for their man even if he went on a televised slashing spree at the local mall.

there were 30 anti-Bush people for every ONE Bush supporter

8. Article, Knight Ridder 100 protestors vs. 25 supporters in Dayton
.....excerpt........
Katy Garrison, 26, of Springfield, a professor at Urbana University was among about 25 Bush supporters who turned out in a field across the street from Hara Arena, where Bush participated in a town hall-style meeting during an Ohio campaign tour that also took him to suburban Toledo, Lebanon and Cincinnati on Tuesday, a day after he toured Michigan.

Bush's supporters in the field were outnumbered by more than 100 protesters, most labor union members. The protesters chanted "no more Bush" and waved signs with messages including "Out-source King George," a reference to organized labor's unhappiness with companies that hire out work that union members say they should be handling.

James Phillips, 46, an auto worker from suburban Huber Heights and member of the International Union of Electronic Workers, said that Bush has failed to show economic leadership and help create jobs.

"I don't think we can take another four years of Bush in office," Phillips said.

14. This Michigander...
is going to do everything in her power to make sure this buffoon is not reselected!

I got an unsolicited email from the Michigan Republican Party saying that he would be here and I could be "included in the crowd that was allowed to be there". How they got my email address is beyond me, but I promptly emailed them back and told them I wouldn't go across the street to see that yellow-bellied chickenhawk! Then I asked to be taken off their email list.

17. and here's the Macomb County protests -- good story
see photo at link:

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=11434794&BRD=988&PAG=461&dep...

-snip-

Tim Brown, 48, of Detroit, who was dressed up as a woman, argued that Bush and the Federal Communications Commission are trying to snuff out expression. He carried a sign in support of radio station personality Howard Stern. His costume, he said, was to bring attention to the importance of expression.
"They're trying to restrict speech. Oprah can say what she says, but she can get away with it. Howard can't," he said.

A half-dozen Raging Grannies for Peace also protested Bush for his environmental positions and the war.

Ezra Goldman, 35, of Oak Park, a Bush supporter, said the environmental attacks on Bush surprised him.
"Clean air is not really a big issue right now," Goldman said. "I would think there would be more war protesters."

Two young male students from University of Michigan armed with a guitar and drum played and sang songs criticizing Bush. The duo called themselves, "Anything's better than fascism."

-snip-

He's re-cut the Kalamazoo song ...

I gotta lie in Kalamazoo
Don’t want to roast but I know I'm toast in Kalamazoo
(Zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo)

Years have gone by, my my how the nose grew
I like to lie even if I'm goin'a lose in Kalamazoo
(Zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo, zoo)

I’m gonna run away, hoppin’ on a bus, leavin’ today
Am I dreamin’? I can hear them screamin’
"You're a lier"
Everything’s OK, A-L-A-M-A-Z-O

Oh, what a lie, a real pipperoo
I’ll make my bid for that freckle-faced kid I’m hurryin’ to
I’m goin’ to Michigan to tell the sweetest lie in Kalamazoo

20. Kalamazoo, Detroit, Dayton, Toledo.....these are conservative places
If Shrubby can't win the "hearts and minds" in these urban centers in the Great Lakes, he's lost a lot of states. Write off Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York.

You can hear the chanting and beating of drums in the background. Of course, Lou never asks, "What's that racket?"
