Abuse photos used for interrogation leverage, Warner says
WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. military personnel took photos of Iraqi prisoners in sexually humiliating poses in an apparent effort to obtain leverage for future interrogations, a leading senator said Tuesday.

"They staged those photographs, which I understand were going to be shown to the prisoners' families by way of threats unless he came forward with some valuable information," said Sen. John Warner, R-Va., the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"The plot is thickening," Warner added as he presided over a daylong hearing into prisoner abuse. The hearing was jolted by the release of a video, posted on an Islamic militant Web site, that showed the apparent beheading of an American civilian in Iraq.

"So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls," said one of the executioners.

3. Warner's been trying to make this much to do about nothing for days.
I've seen him on the cable news shows and on C-SPAN. He is the next thing to Rush's saying it is only kids blowing off steam. He must be the one Rove picked to keep this away from Bush and Rummy.

4. They're too late with this lie
It might have worked if they said it from day one, but already soldiers have admitted that Special Intelligence encouraged them to abuse the prisoners. Besides, does anyone really believe those photos were staged. After all, was the Red Cross in on the plot? What a ridiculous lie, and it's so sad that a relatively dignified Repug like John Warner should fall for it.

5. It was a payback it seems. Our leaders who defy the Geneva Convention
with rationalization and excuses now have an American life lost because of the so called Photo leverage. What fucking kind of thinking is that? Only term comes to mind is very foolish and near sighted. Poor Berg, wrong place wrong time. A victim of our Nation and its stupid leaders put into place by the likes of Rash, OReally, and the Fundamentalists who somehow want a Holy War.

I hope they can sleep tonight knowing they caused a needless death...not only to Berg but all of our troops there. The need for Control and Domination has gone over the Top.

The Pubs and their man have proven beyond a doubt they know not how to govern.

6. abuse, schmabuse
it's torture, plain and simple. You don't "abuse" people to get information, you torture them. Staged photographs, my ass.

10. Warner is a dangerous rw maniac
It is kind of entertaining in a sort of sick way to watch these republicans have to defend all of this in the interest of ass saving george bush. These dicks have absolutely no ethics at all.
