Dean's Statement on Speech by Former Vice President Al Gore

(August 7, 2003)

RED OAK, IA--Democratic presidential candidate Governor Howard Dean, M.D., issued the following statement regarding the speech today by former Vice President Al Gore: "I thank Vice President Al Gore for standing up to this Administration and using his position as a respected leader in our party to speak about truth, integrity, and real compassion--three values that are sorely lacking in this White House and Administration.

"Al Gore has always been a voice of reason in our party and our nation. Today, he demonstrated that by addressing the very real concerns of mainstream America.

"Today, Al Gore clearly stood up to this Administration and its falsely portrayed intentions. He should be applauded for that by all who seek a return to truth, integrity, and compassion in our government."

4. Have to agree
best thing would be to post it in Politics - and then go to one of the Gore speech threads in LBN and Link the thread with this press release to that thread.

5. it definitely is LBN
when Gore makes a major speech of dissent against * and the illegal war, and the leading candidate makes a response...its NEWS

and that goes for any releases Kerry or Graham make in response.

Loserman......we are waiting...tell us how wrong Al is for opposing your prescious war :puke:

When Al Gore first made it clear he wasn't running Dean had a poignant statement that made me look at this man closer!

11. His statement when asked who he would pick for VP was wonderful.
He said it would have to be somebody who would make an excellent president - like Clinton's choice. (paraphrasing, but close).

12. Locking...
We're all very excited about President Gore's speech today, but in order to keep LBN neat and tidy, it's time to lock some of the duplicate threads on this topic.

(party_line, please feel free to add Governor Dean's reaction to Gore's speech to one of the threads below, or begin a new discussion in the Politics forum.)

Let's consolidate our discussion into the following two threads:

Khephra's thread early this morning, alerting DUers to the speech:

JaneQPublic's thread this afternoon, for media reaction to the speech:

Thanks!
