Blair faces 'war crimes' accusation
. . .

Speaking at a press conference in London, Mr Galloway said: "We intend to table parliamentary questions and also write to the Attorney General to seek his permission, as we require, to begin a private prosecution against Mr Blair, Mr (Geoff) Hoon (Defence Secretary) and Mr (Adam) Ingram (Armed Forces Minister) for war crimes and the torture, which has been going on for more than a year."

He added: "Prima facie, they have completely failed to live up to their international legal obligations."

Mr Galloway said that the British army had accepted, as a result of a finding by the European Court of Human Rights that it could no longer hood prisoners.

But Mr Galloway said that hooding had been continuing during the Iraq war "until at least three months ago."

1. I wonder how much support he will have from the people and other
members of the parliment. Are we witnessing the first stages of Blair's downfall? I wonder if he will step down? AH! So many questions!

I don't know if this is big news because I don't know how much support he will have, if his request will be granted or if this will play out as a partisan attack...Does anyone have any insight?

2. It would be nice if someone would file a case in the International
Criminal Court. Britain signed the accord so Blair is bound by it's power and is guilty of war crimes. This could be fun if he has to defend himself for crimes but the shrub just thumbs his nose at the international community.

On edit - This was before the news of the torture at Abu Ghraib and elsewhere became public knowledge.

4. Thanks for this!
The Iraqi torture by British soldiers will give them even more traction I hope.

6. Blair will eventually become Bush's linchpin
To avoid prosecution Blair will reveal the most private thoughts and aspirations inherent in Bush's psyche and the real reason for Bush deceiving the American people into believing they were in imminent danger and compelled to issue a preemptive strike against Iraq.

GWBush will be remembered in history as the deceptive non elected president that stole what he could not win and perjured himself for what he could not have. A sorry end to a malevolently inspired quest for a man and his family, so far removed from the quality and integrity it takes to wear the title, The Leader of the FREE World.

7. The Brits will do it too
They are much more prim and proper group. Their heritage is embellished with it. For this type of thing to happen it just goes against the grain of every British citizen too much.

Their going to hang Blair out to dry

Poor Chimpy won't have any friends

8. No, mother Britannia will seek salvation for the minister gone astray
and laud him for his bold efforts to thwart a terrorist attack on the great country of the USA. Blair will come out smelling like a rose. Just another victim of Bush's deception and greed.

10. It is so..
but it is a good so...

Blair was along for the ride as a credible witness to the obsessive maniacal pnac agenda foisted on the world by a group of self serving anti-intellectuals hell bent on world domination.
