Brutal interrogation in Iraq / Proof of murder/ MUST READ

http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%7E11676%7E2157003,00.html

Pentagon records provide the clearest view yet of the U.S. tactics used at Anu Ghraib and elsewhere to coax secrets from Iraqis.

The deaths include the killing in November of a high-level Iraqi general who was shoved into a sleeping bag and suffocated, according to the Pentagon report. The documents contradict an earlier Defense Department statement that said the general died "of natural causes" during an interrogation. Pentagon officials declined to comment on the new disclosure.

Another Iraqi military officer, records show, was asphyxiated after being gagged, his hands tied to the top of his cell door. Another detainee died "while undergoing stress technique interrogation," involving smothering and "chest compressions," according to the documents.

Beyond the interrogation deaths, the military documents show that investigators are examining other abuse cases involving soldiers using choking techniques during interrogations, including the handling of prisoners at a detention facility in Samarra, Iraq, where soldiers allegedly "forced into asphyxiation numerous detainees."

Also under investigation are reports that soldiers in Iraq abused women and children. One April 2003 case, which is awaiting trial, involves a reservist who pointed a loaded pistol at an Iraqi child in front of witnesses, saying he should kill the youngster to "send a message" to other Iraqis.

1. The lies about Mowhoush are transparent

Iraqi General Dies Of Natural Causes

AL QAIM, Iraq – Maj. Gen. Abed Hamed Mowhoush, of the Mahalowi tribe, an air defense general officer under the former regime, died this morning during an interview with U.S. forces.

Mowhoush said he didn’t feel well and subsequently lost consciousness. The soldier questioning him found no pulse, then conducted CPR and called for medical authorities. A surgeon responded within five minutes to continue advanced cardiac life support techniques, but they were ineffective. According to the on-site surgeon it appeared Mowhoush died of natural causes.

The Coalition Forces are cooperating with local Sheiks and Imams to properly treat and transfer the body to their control while verifying the cause of death. The death of Major General Mowhoush is currently under investigation

4. "Mowhoush said he didn’t feel well and subsequently lost consciousness."
'At least that's what we think he said. Sometimes it's hard to tell what they're saying when you're strangling them.'

6. They Were Just Casting Out their Demons
Like they did with Terrence Cottrell (8 year old boy who died of asphyxiation during an "exorcism").

5. and this "protects" America....how?
"One April 2003 case, which is awaiting trial, involves a reservist who pointed a loaded pistol at an Iraqi child in front of witnesses, saying he should kill the youngster to "send a message" to other Iraqis."
And what message would that be? I think they got the message, I think the whole world got the message.
All together now, let's sing: "And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today."

10. My heart hurts too much to read anymore about these abuses.
Seriously,...I am just way too tender to continue subjecting myself to this evil.

My mind may be pretty tough,...but my heart remains sensitive to the exploitation of any human life.

I just,...I just can't take further exposure. I'm sorry.

15. Republicans are minimizing this to abuse/hazing when there is

proof of murder, thatÕs why we must talk about this. I know what you mean though, this is rough Just Me.

17. What will it take?
What happens with the dead from Guantanamo? How many have died being tortured in these prisons? These pukes will stop calling it hazing when a mass grave is uncovered. And I believe that is what is going to happen.

It's already trickling out. Witness the photos of soldiers posing with a smile and thumbs up next to Iraqi corpses.

16. It is time that military cases were handled by a body of people
other than military! The fox guarding the hen house isn't going to cut it anymore! This is exactly how our military has gotten away with this crap for so long!

Frick! Just read all the reports that are 'currently under investigation' resulting in only job related reprimands of sorts and no actual punishment!

<INSERT MULTIPLE CURSE WORDS HERE!>

And nothing, NOTHING, has been done to stop or change a damn thing, just continuing/ongoing investigations into natural death causes!

:puke: :wow:

And we wonder how the hell we got from point A to point 'Beyond the Looking Glass'...

I'm with you, Just Me, I can't take much more of this. Why on earth hasn't then been stopped?!?! How can anyone allow the same methods to continue knowing that it is causing death?!?!

They didn't/haven't altered one damn thing knowing full well the results! They do NOT care and will not change until they have to answer to someone or something else besides themselves because they have no conscious!!

What Prison Scandal?
By MAUREEN DOWD
Published: May 20, 2004

Rummy had a dozen Republican senators over to the Pentagon for breakfast on Tuesday, and Mr. Cornyn said the secretary was exasperated by the "all-consuming nature" of the Congressional hearings.

The man who David Plotz of Slate says is widely "considered one of the dumbest members of Congress" chimed in, dumbly. Following up on his inane rant defending the soldiers accused of abuse at Abu Ghraib and whingeing about "humanitarian do-gooders," Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma wondered whether Mr. Warner was trying to help the Democrats with public hearings.

The most absurd cut was delivered by Speaker Dennis Hastert, who responded to Mr. McCain's contention that Congress should not enact tax cuts during wartime because it prevented a sense of shared sacrifice by barking: "John McCain ought to visit our young men and women at Walter Reed and Bethesda. There is sacrifice in this country."

It just shows how completely flipped out the Republicans are about how the Iraq occupation is going that they are turning on a war hero and P.O.W., and on a man who enlisted in not one war, but two. ...
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/20/opinion/20DOWD.html

The Secretary of Defense for the USofA is complaining that investigating possible *war crimes* is disrupting his little *illegal* war.
Where WILL it end?
