Number of U.S. casualties in Iraq rises to 807

BAGHDAD, May 27 (PL)—The number of U.S. fatalities during these 14 months in Iraq has risen to 807, while the religious leader Moqtada al Sadr today set a truce to put an end to the combat with coalition troops in the city of Najaf.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed today that three Marines died during actions by the resistance in the city of Al Ambar, west of Baghdad.

The press release also reported that a fourth U.S. soldier died during a rocket attack, but did not specify the location. At least 70 of the Pentagon’s soldiers have died in Iraq during the current month of May.

2. That will be a big media To-Do
The number 1000 will be plastered all over the big 3 newsmagazines, along with a lot of TV news specials on the casualties. I guarantee you Kerl Rove's people are prepping for this because the numbers may clear 1000 in October.

3. Looks like it's on track for the Republican Convention.
Poetic injustice, perhaps.

5. 1000 by mid July...
during the last two months the death toll haS averaged about 100 per month... and I think it will probably get worse ahead of June 30 and after.

6. There is a very effective 'black-out' of these stats.
No photos of draped caskets. Out of sight, out of mind.
