Governor's motorcade caught speeding on California road (95/55)
(Sacramento, California-AP)

California Governor Gray Davis' motorcade was reportedly clocked speeding in a central California stretch of highway known as "Blood Alley" for its many accidents.

The Los Angeles Times says the motorcade was allegedly moving at 94 miles an hour in a 55-mile-an- hour zone last Saturday. --

The sergeant in charge of the motorcade has been formally reprimanded for breaking traffic laws.

1. More fuel for the fire, I suppose.
They'll find someway to blame it directly on Davis, I'm sure.

3. Gray Davis has become the new Bill Clinton
I am so sick of all of the people out there screaming murder against Gray Davis. He WON the damn election ... FAIR AND SQUARE!

Some don't like it ... like Ahhhnulddddd ....... :nuke: the Nazi!

Issa spent millions on this BS and IMO lost being he had to drop out due to his own scandalous past!

Frankly, I really do not care if Gray Davis' driver got a speeding ticket!

Can't they come up with something better than this to beat Davis up with? They must be God awfully desperate, that is all I can say!

:grr:

4. Maybe so....
But the important question is... was Ponch in anyway involved? Because then this would be cool.

7. Calling all tinfoilers! Davis' plane had engine trouble!

<snip>
The motorcade was made up of unmarked state vehicles, but not the normal ones involved in transporting state officials. CHP officers serve as drivers for California's constitutional officers, such as the governor, representatives said.

Citing security reasons, officials wouldn't confirm the identity of the person inside the car, besides saying the individual had attended an event when a plane suffered engine problems and the entourage switched to automobiles.
<snip>

Edit: This story isn't corroborated anywhere else, there's no evidence of any foul play mentioned, and there are plenty of normal reasons for an engine to misbehave in a way that would prompt a prudent pilot to land.

8. another small plane 'accident' in the works!
I'd be driving FAST too wouldn't you?

snip<Citing security reasons, officials wouldn't confirm the identity of the person inside the car, besides saying the individual had attended an event when a plane suffered engine problems and the entourage switched to automobiles.

"You don't need to ask, you pretty much know who it was," said Helmick.

Davis signed the budget Saturday in Sacramento. He had no public state events over the weekend, before he left for Chicago Sunday, spokesman Steve Maviglio said.

"The governor's office doesn't have anything to do with the way the governor is transported," said Maviglio, adding that the CHP handles all aspects of getting Davis to various locations.>snip

Holy shyte - they tried to off Davis!

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I DEMAND A FULL INVESTIGATION!!!!

9. How Come Wingnuts Didn't Let It Hurt TX Governor
Rick "Goodhair" PERRY when he was caught on tape being an arrogant prick to a highway patrol who stopped him, talking threateningly and saying something like, "Now, let us go on our way down the road NOW"?
Just being rhetorical.

10. The issue
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 03:13 PM by rook1
..is not Grey Davis. The issue is that his motorcade was doing 94 MPH in a 55MPH zone. Now you can call it anything you want but I call it irresponsible...and yes the Governor is responsible for what his people were doing...Leadership by example and this is a poor example.

If you or I had been doing 94 in a 55 zone you can bet your ass we would be sitting in jail right now...bet on it. Davis is a career politician and as such thinks he is above eveyone else and should be afforded special treatment...I say BULL.

This has nothing to do with the recall....94 in a 55? give me a break.

11. yes but why was it going 95 MPH?
because, the plane they were supposed to board had engine problems! They were apparently in quite the rush and it stated 'security reasons' for the speed.

15. I don't care
It is crazy to drive 95 in a 55 zone...for anyone. I don't care if you are late for a plane. Grey Davis has the power to do pretty much what he want's. Call ahead and hold the plane or take another one. Security reason's my ass. He has personal body gaurds up the wazoo....all armed to the teeth...a right that is denied law abiding citizens in California I might add.

This is just another example of a politician abusing his power...nothing more.

12. * 's convoy went just as fast
I was home on vacation in Maine last year, and my hometown is 20 minutes from the Kennebunkport Bush Compound. Every time he goes there Air Force 1 stops in New Hampshire and he takes Coast Guard chopper into our little airport.

I was driving home and * was flying in; they made everyone pull off to the side the whole 15 or so mile stretch, and the presidential convoy of about 20 black SUV's blew by doing about 80 (in a 45 mph zone)

One of the SUVs had the back window open and a man in a suit was flanked by 2 dudes with submachine guns.... going too fast to tell if it was chimpy...

19. no chimpy wouldn't be in the back with the windows open, lol
the reason there are so many limos is to lessen the chance he gets nailed by an rpg or something like that, which all the limos are more than capable of taking. watch the next time you see him getting in or leaving a residential car, you'll notice that the windows are about 3 inches thick, they will easily stop a .50 cal right in its tracks. having the chimp hanging out with the rear security is kind of defeating the point, isn't it?

either way, chimpymcfucknut doesn't deserve ANY of his presidential perks.

Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 06:40 PM by rook1
...where can I buy an RPG? This isn't IRAQ. RPG's aren't floating around at the local flea market.Even if they were the shrub limo would not withstand the impact...period. The bullet proof glass on Mr. Chimps limo won't stop a 50BMG either. The BP glass was designed to stop small arms fire. 9mm, .45ACP, not heavy duty shit like a 50 BMG.

The only motorcades I ever saw were:

- Al Gore
- Gorbachev
