Pakistan Islamists to seek fatwa on troops to Iraq

ISLAMABAD (Reuters)

Pakistan's hardline Islamic groups, locked in a bitter standoff with the pro- military government, said on Saturday they would seek a fatwa or religious decree against dispatching Pakistani troops to Iraq.

Pakistan, a key ally in what Washington calls its ''war on terror,'' has been asked by the United States to send around 10,000 soldiers to Iraq to help secure the post-war peace.

Fazal-ur-Rehman, a central leader of the main anti-U.S. Islamic alliance, said a council of top religious scholars had been set up to issue the fatwa next week. ---

3. I think Bush said to "bring em on"

I don't know who wants to even be outside in the Iraq heat....
much less wear heavy gear and carry heavy guns.
Why don't they just take the summer off, share some food,
wine and music along the rivers. Throw in some fireworks.
