Bush Pre-Election Promises vs. Post-Election Budget
Bush Pre-Election Promises vs. Post-Election Budget; Democrats Fan Out to Tell Voters How Much Bush's Reelection Will Cost Them

WASHINGTON, June 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A new report out today from the John Kerry for President campaign uncovers the state-by- state impact of the Bush administration's secret budget plan to cut major spending in 2006 if the President is reelected. Using the report, Democrats this week will hold events across the country so voters can see how much the President's secret budget will cost them.

Impacting veterans, women, children and homeland security programs, the President's secret budget plan was first unearthed by news organizations last week. Reports were based on a Bush administration memo directing federal agencies to anticipate cuts beginning in fiscal year 2006.

"Bush's secret plan to cut homeland security, education and veterans benefits isn't a secret anymore," said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton. "People need to know what this Administration's irresponsible fiscal policies are costing them, and how they tried to conceal these budget cuts."

Throughout the week, Democrats will hold events in nearly 30 states to highlight the results of this report. Governors, members of Congress, mayors and other local activists will participate. Examples of Democrats participating in events include Governor Vilsack and Senator Harkin in Iowa and Governor McGreevey in New Jersey.

Nationally, Bush's secret plan will:

-- Cut $910 million for the nation's 26.7 million veterans

-- Cut $1 billion for homeland security needs

-- Cut $1.5 billion for education

-- Cut 21,820 kids from head start

-- Force 187,287 mothers out of the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Plan.

1. Compassionate (the real) conservatism at its zenith: a microcosm of
the heart, soul, and mind of the neocon.

3. Just a Thought
$910 million from veterans: Wasn't it this weekend that "Rolling Thunder" endorsed Bush, and said that this administration was doing right by veterans?

$1 billion from Homeland Security: I guess this means that this administration does not really care about keeping us regular Americans safe, not that they actually cared before.

$1.5 billion: So much for "No Child Left Behind".

21,820 kids from Head Start add that to the number of children who will be affected by the cuts in the WIC program. What you have is an administration filled with heartless, greedy, warmongers, who have no concern about anything but how to fill their pockets.

Organizations like Rolling Thunder, and the fundies who support this administration must be considered the ENEMY.

4. 30 states in one week? this seems pretty organized. good job.
i'm proud of the people who worked on exposing this. it's obvious bush has to cut back primary stuff to pay for his corporate welfare and tax breaks for the ultra-rich, and exposing what he's planning now is an excellent move when he's pinned down with the Iraq quagmire.
