Democrats Seek Special Halliburton/Cheney Counsel
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - House Democrats urged a special counsel on Wednesday to probe whether Vice President Dick Cheney broke the law through any involvement in the award of a government contract in Iraq to his old company, Halliburton Co.

For the second day running, Democrats demanded more answers to questions raised by a newly unearthed Army e-mail that said Cheney's office "coordinated" action on a contract to rebuild Iraq's oil infrastructure that was awarded to Halliburton.

Eleven Democratic members of the House of Representatives wrote to Attorney General John Ashcroft asking him to name a special counsel to investigate Cheney's role.

"The public deserves to know the truth about whether the Vice President has illegally commingled his official and personal dealings," said the letter from Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, and 10 other House lawmakers.

3. It IS very serious, yes
I know I should be glad politically, but I'm not, even though we all knew this was going on. Instead, I'm pissed. REALLY pissed. :grr:

2. I just so want the war-profitteering to see the light of day!!!
Any decent human being would be outraged at the depth and breadth of a war for profit on the backs of so many innocent people.

4. No investigations are going to happen
No investigation by Congress (Repuke majority)
No investigation by Ashcroft or any of the exec branch (get real)
No investigation by SCOTUS (not their job; conservative majority, anyways)

So much for checks and balances.

5. Don't despair: call Congress. And don't be too polite:

shout if necessary. Office phones need to ring off the hook on this one.

8. the WH is like the chicken without a head.
There will be an investigation, but timed to finish after November.

The disconnect between the general public and the rove-ing cretins in DC is growing larger. Even conservative, stable (there are a few) republicans are becoming worried about their leeeeder in chief.

But, there remains a hard core, hard-nosed, hardly literate group of peepholes who will support bush through any and everything. The religiousity and Gawd tells me so, so I know it true, holier than thou attititude actually convinces some folks - especially those waiting to be sucked into the sky over the next two years. Unfortunately, they vote.

9. More Like A Sub Without A Head
With the shite piling up higher and higher.

I do agree that the investigation will last well into next year but, considering what Dimbo nd his minions have done, its coming out now and in time to negate any influence the GOP may spend on advertising.
