U.S. Army Under Mortar, Grenade Attacks in Iraq
BAGHDAD (Reuters)

Guerrillas in Iraq fired mortars or rocket-propelled grenades at U.S. occupation forces overnight in four towns, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.

A U.S. military spokesman said on Thursday three mortar attacks took place in Ramadi.

Rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the U.S. 4th Infantry Division in Tikrit, the home town of former president Saddam Hussein.

A mortar was launched at a U.S. logistics base near Balad, the spokesman said. ---

Iraqi witnesses said rocket-propelled grenades were fired at a station for U.S.-backed Iraqi police and a municipality building in Falluja, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad. ---

3. Soon my 16 year old son
will be sitting at the dinner table watching guys hold up strings filled with human ears and thinking, "gee, just two more years and they'll be making me kill people, and I ain't mad at nobody.."

Naw.. the media doesn't show that anymore..

but they did when I was 16, and I had to join the air force two years later..

thanks DemoTex, hope the people start to wise up...

5. Good heavens! You have a talent. I don't enjoy posting war events.
But it is so important that all this doesn't go un-noticed. I am amazed at some of the people that visit this forum daily for their news source. I personaly know two that work for us in DC. They have impressive commercial news gathering sources at their disposal and choose to come here first. Peter DeFazzio is quite a fan.

4. Since our soldiers are risking their lives for oil, perhaps the oil corps
ought to treat them more like employees and give them shares in their companies (sarcasm off). Well at least it would be more honest and taxpayers wouldn't have to pay for this charade and lose their children lives. Of course, like Enron, I'm sure the corps would find a way to leave them high and dry. They've left us all holding the bag.
