British officials 'concerned over dossier wording'
Anyone fancy getting WMD's back in the news and putting the wind right up Blair & Bush?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3141669.stm

Concerns over the language used by the government as it made the case for war with Iraq were shared by two officials in the Ministry of Defence, a senior figure has revealed.

Martin Howard - the deputy chief of defence intelligence at the ministry - said that the two officials were concerned about the language - but not the content - used in the government's dossier on Iraq's weapons.

MoD personnel director, Richard Hatfield, said Dr Kelly had been cleared to talk to the media but he had "strayed" from government rules when he spoke to BBC defence correspondent Andrew Gilligan.

The inquiry also heard from a Cabinet Office official, chief of the assessment staff Julian Miller, who said the 45-minutes claim was added to the dossier on 10 or 11 September last year.

1. Re the clearance to talk
Gilligan testified that he felt had a de facto general clearance when he followed up with reporters whom he had been cleared to talk to once before, but that he hadn't cleared the specific conversations with Gilligan. I think he was implying that the conversations he had with Gilligan technically weren't follow-ups on cleared conversations, and that he should have cleared them had he been following the rules.

2. Quick question AP
Do you agree that Dr Kelly was "a Walter Mitty character" as he was described by Blair's press spokesman?

The concerns raised by the Hutton enquiry are all over the UK press for the first time since Britain started melting due to the heat. Blair's government seems to be well and truly in the shit, which is no more than Blair deserves for his poodling with $hrubya.

3. No
People with those sorts of problems (i.e., any tending towards some
form of instability) tend to get weeded out by the security clearing
process long before they get to the level of Dr. Kelly ... head of
microbiology at Porton Down, weapons inspection visits to Russia,
all of that stuff in his bio ... no, I don't think so.
He was a very smart guy who knew how to deal with all manner of
situations but who was taken out when he couldn't be browbeaten into
submission.

The only "Walter Mitty" people in this mess are those t*ssers in
Downing Street who think that they are in charge and beyond any
retribution.
