Britain allows non-essential diplomatic staff to leave Saudi Arabia
LONDON (AFP) - Britain said it has authorised the voluntary departure from Saudi Arabia of non-essential British embassy staff and their families after a US national was killed in the Gulf state.

"The Foreign Office is authorising the voluntary departure of non-essential staff and dependants," a spokesman told AFP.

A US aeronautics engineer died in a drive-by shooting and another US national was believed kidnapped in the latest escalation of anti-Western attacks bearing the stamp of Al-Qaeda in the oil-rich state.
