Bob HerboldOLYMPIA — Former Microsoft executive Bob Herbold announced today that he won't seek the Republican nomination for governor.
After weeks of deliberation, Herbold, 61, called the job a "bad fit" that isn't suited to his experience and talents.
"Getting things done in a business world is far different than getting things done in a political world," Herbold told The Associated Press. "There's an awful lot of people who are operating independently, with their first priority being themselves."
Herbold, the retired chief operating officer of the software giant, also cited ongoing commitments, including a book contract, seats on corporate boards and consulting contracts.

Seattle TimesHA!!!! This comes after Chris Vance (Washington GOP chair) virtually PROMISED us that not only would Herbold run, he'd win in a landslide! There is NO Republican candidate, save got Jennifer Dunn who seems supremely uninterested, who could win this one... not even close! I suspect that Gregoire will win the primary and the general, and is very well positioned to be the first woman president in the US in 2012.
