Women battle for equal rights in loo queue
When it comes to equality, women's lavatories stink. So says Yvette Clarke, a New York city councillor who has proposed a bill to force public venues to provide twice as much toilet space for women as they do for men.

However, her attempt to cut queues outside women's loos through the restroom equality bill is meeting resistance.

"You're probably talking about tens of millions of dollars," Robert Bookman, a lawyer for the New York Nightlife Association, told a city council hearing.

"The expense needs to be looked at for the entire city. The lines I see are much more than two-to-one, frankly, so what happens when we go through all this and you don't solve the problem?"

Ms Clarke, whose bill would place requirements on stadiums, bars, cinemas and theatres, was not to be deterred. "I think we can all agree that when you're standing in a line, there's nothing more serious at that moment than answering that call," she said.

1. This is soooo true
On way might be to cut into the men's rooms when they're next to each other, which they often are. This is something most women have given a lot of thought to. I'd like to recommend Carnegie Hall to all women. I have no idea what their men's rooms are like but a woman can be in and out of there and back in her seat way before intermission is over. It's the ONLY venue I've attended regularly where that's generally true.

2. Massachusetts did this a while back
It'a a proven fact that it takes longer for women to perform the same functions as men in the loo. This isn't considering the hair-fixing and the make-up applying just the physical act of what's done in the stall or at the urinal.

People laugh at this but it's a valid argument.

3. Well perhaps
An attendant loss of privacy like males would solve this issue. Better use of space rather than building palatial female toilets.
