Iraq war may have made terror threat worse
http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20030709-064421-3832r

WASHINGTON, July 9 (UPI) -- One of the world's leading terrorism experts Wednesday told the panel investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that the U.S. invasion of Iraq may have worsened the threat of terrorism.

Prof. Rohan Gunaratna, giving evidence at a public hearing of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also criticized the failures of intelligence and policy he said had turned Afghanistan into a "terrorist Disneyland," and allowed al-Qaida and other terror groups "a free reign."

Asked by panel member Max Cleland, the war-wounded Vietnam veteran and former Democratic Georgia senator, to comment on the impact of the U.S. military campaign in Iraq, Gunaratna said that deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein -- on the run with nothing to lose but with money and possible biological or chemical weapons -- might be a bigger threat now than before.

2. Think, now...
Have they ever told the truth?

Their myopic greed for oil, wealth and power does not allow for reality to intrude on their plans.

3. I watched some of that last night
It seemed to me that those gentlemen dropped a couple of bombs during their statements. A lot of what I have read about al Qaeda was confirmed by these men. Especially their confirmation of the importance of Project Bojinka. According to one of the panelists, if Khalid Shaikh Mohammed had been captured, who was the mastermind of Project Bojinka, 9-11 would not have happened.

Now, flash forward to Condi Rice saying no one ever thought someone would fly airplanes into buildings. This seem proof enough, that Condi Rice has no right to be the National Security Advisor, since obviously she had no knowledge of this very important case.

She claims no one was able to connect the dots. She's full of it. It was her job to connect the dots and she didn't have a clue? Time to step down girl, you're a danger to national security.

4. 100,000 people murdered by the U.S. when it had no evidence
either in Afghanistan or Iraq.

It's not easy for Americans to understand what a tribe, clan, village... is. All these people intimately know each other. Families are close, geographically and emotionally. Everyone is 'Family'. (Being from our alienated society I know it's not easy to understand.)

Anyway, take that 100,000 murdered x 100 grieving family members = my conservative estimate of the people who, if have a chance, would do anything they possibly could do to kill Americans.

(Something you won't hear on CNN, FOX or Me The Press.)

5. Once again, the tide is turning...
The story is from UPI, a Moonie organization. The Washington Times, another Moonie paper, had a negative-to-Bush story the other day. Mainstream media, from GMA and Today, to network news shows, seem to be allowing 'differing opinions' to be aired.
Maybe Corporate America sees that Bush is bad for business? Or maybe I'm just in a decent mood today...

9. No it's not.
I'll admit I'm thrilled to see the lead story on ABC, etc. that Smirk's reasons for going to war are being questioned...

But, did you read this whole UPI article? It ends by implying it's Clinton's fault because he inadequately responded to the African embassy bombings and didn't respond to the USS Cole bombing.

Also in the text is something scary to me....

(snip)
Referring to the inculcation of values, "what is in the Muslim world's head, how people are being raised and educated," as "the software" of Islamic societies, Fandy said, "We have to rewrite that software, if you will. And if we don't rewrite it, nobody else will rewrite it."
(snip)

Why in the hell does America have to "rewrite" Islamic society????? If that is not admitting a dark desire for world domination, I don't know what it.

6. I wish someone had come out and said this BEFORE the war
Oh wait we did, by the MILLIONS.

Every single argument against the war is coming true but nobody's right when everything is wrong.

16. Yet Another "Duh!" Moment
brought to you by the most irresponsible Administration in US History. They couldn't have seriously thought that INVADING AND OCCUPYING A MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRY would actually DECREACE the threat of terrorism could they? Or are the stupid/brain-dmaged/smoking crack? I mean come on, its basically garunteed to increase anti-US feelings in the region.

Bush needs terrorism, he thrives off it. Without the threat of it Bush would have been toast months ago.
