Saddam’s wife assembles defence team of 20: report

AMMAN/BAGHDAD - The wife of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has granted a 20-strong group of lawyers, mostly Jordanian Arabs, the right to defend her husband, according to an online report published on Friday by Arab news channel Al Jazeera.

The report said that Sajida Khair Allah, who now lives in Jordan, signed an official power of attorney authorising full defence rights to the group, which includes Hussain Mjalli, chairman of the Jordan Bar Association, and Muhamad al-Rashdan, reportedly assigned by Saddam’s family following the capture of the ex-ruler. snip

Al-Rashdan and Mjalli are expected to base their defence on the legality of the US-led coalition’s occupation of Iraq, under which their right to hold and try Saddam also comes into question.

“Iraq, Iraqi people, Iraqi law, and the Iraqi president were hijacked,” Mjalli told al-Jazeera. ”The occupation of Iraq was illegal so ipso facto everything that follows is illegal.”

1. The occupation of Iraq
may be illegal. Saddam is an evil bastard and I could care less what happens to him.

3. You should care.
Junior already has Saddam's gun stored in his private study in the White House. He enjoys showing this trophy to select friends and visitors.

Remember, Saddam tried to kill Poppy. And, Junior likes revenge-at any cost.

So, you can expect Junior, Rove, et. al. will fully exploit any trial and conviction of Saddam to their full political advantage.

Guaranteed!

2. I just want to him to make it to trial.
So he can talk about all the deals he made with these guys before they decided to kill him. After that they can give him to the mob to dismember for all I care.

4. I agree, I want it to come to light all the countries that helped
create this monster.....and it would be nice if it showed other monsters.....we feed them guns, chemicals, hatred, and training. And continue to do so around the world.....

Fear that he will be returned to power.

5. Didn't I read that Saddam has cancer?

I am so sure that Saddam will not live to go on trial that, if that happened, I will vote for George Bush! And I can't even imagine voting for that slimy dog!!

They will never let Daddam speak to anyone because he knows exactly where all the Bushshit is buried. And, once he started talking they would all have to run for cover in their teflon out houses.

I would love to see Poppy and Barbs having their "beautiful minds" burned at the stake.

6. I believe there will be an Iraqi version of Jack Ruby
Somewhere along the line, someone will get to him - to spare (insert name here) the agony of a trial.
