NEW YORK -- Two 15-year-old boys were arraigned on charges they beat a homeless man with garbage can lids along several blocks and pelted him to death with bricks near a Brooklyn church.

The teenagers, Dashorn Washington and Jamel Robinson, were charged as adults with second-degree murder and weapons possession in Brooklyn criminal court on Friday.

Police said the attack began when the pair pulled 51-year-old William Pearson out of an abandoned car where he had been sleeping in the parking lot of a gas station in Brooklyn's East New York neighborhood at about 3 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the teenagers then repeatedly threw bricks at Pearson near St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church in the East New York section. A priest at the church found his beaten body and called 911.

Pearson, known in the neighborhood as "Billy," had lived on the streets around the church, which operates a soup kitchen. Church officials said he had been a regular at meals there.

3. The parents might have something to do with these kids
lack of judgement to say the least. Why would 2 15yr olds kill a homeless man who was not harming anyone.??? because they had no direction is a start. I do not know, it's very sad and repulsive that a 15 yr old can do this to anybody. I really do not get it.

4. Singin' in the rain
Part of our human nature, but I wonder whose pet issues will be tied around the neck of this poor dead fellow.

5. I don't care what influenced
these 15 year olds to do this. This is so deeply wrong and they knew it! Hope they get severe penalties for this!

6. The first thing that I wondered about is where were these parents. This
crime took place in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. What the hell were these 'kids' doing roaming the streets at 3:00 a.m.???? Nothing good is gonna happen to a fifteen year old at 3:00 a.m.

I think that someone needs to answer the question why nobody thought there was a problem that they were out at that time. And if no one knew they were out, why not.

I don't care what anyone says, people are responsible for their kids. They're just not something you pop out and just allow to behave as the want. They're not smart enough to control their impulsive, and in many cases, destructive behavior. And second, too damn many bad things can happen to kids today. This is a two-way thing. People should not only be concerned about what their kids are doing, they should be damned concerned about what others may be doing to their kids as they're out roaming the streets.

NONE of this makes sense to me.
