OIC Condemns Johnson’s Murder
JEDDAH, 21 June 2004 — The Organization of the Islamic Conference, which groups 57 Muslim countries, yesterday condemned as barbaric and criminal the murder of US hostage Paul Johnson by Al-Qaeda terrorists.

In a statement issued at OIC headquarters here, Abdelouahed Belkeziz, the organization’s outgoing secretary-general, termed Johnson’s beheading an act of barbarism.

“Islam recommends the protection of foreigners... and prohibits killing innocent people among these foreigners,” he said.

Belkeziz said the killing “distorts the reputation and image of Islam for foreigners, which harms Muslims around the world.”

This should be a nobrainer to most of us, but for a few people it will be important news.

2. This is a start?? I don't understand that.
Why do some people demand that anyone who is Islamic 'condemn' or apologize for every barbaric act committed by some other Muslim?

I don't recall Jerry Falwell being made to apologize for Timothy McVeigh, or the Pope being held to account for Jim Jones, or James Dobson being asked to condemn Jeffrey Daumer.

I'm not directly this at you specifically. But stuff like this:

makes my head spin.

For those who don't like to visit that place, the author is suggesting all freepers contact their nearest mosque and ask when they are doing to fight the war on terror.

5. What is a "Muslim Country"?
Would that be a country with a significant Muslim population,
or a country where Islam is the state religion and there is
Islamic law?
