Eyewitnesses: 30 US Troops Killed In Fallujah; Five US Choppers Downed

Mafkarat al-Islam reporting from Fallujah on Thursday said that Resistance forces killed at least 30 US troops in direct fighting with US armored personnel carriers and Humvees transporting those troops. The Resistance also says that it shot down two American Apache helicopters.

The correspondent reported that the Resistance used rocket-propelled grenades to inflict the losses on the US aggressors. Iraqi military engineers formerly employed by munitions plants have since joined the Resistance and have succeeded in increasing the explosive yield of the rockets by 10 times.

US occupation troops began their operations on Thursday morning at precisely 4:15am with an intense aerial bombardment of al-Fallujah’s neighborhoods. The battle on the ground between the Resistance and the US aggressors was joined at about 8:30am. US tanks and armored personnel carriers with air cover from Apache helicopters continued a bombardment of the neighborhoods of the city, in particular the al-‘Askari neighborhood. The bombardment was continuing, the reporter wrote, as of the time of his report (posted on Mafkarat al-Islam at 12:50pm Mecca time Thursday.)

The Resistance fighters were able to throw back the US aggressor troops to the other side of the highway east of the city, leaving their dead behind.
