Protesters greet Bush along route of motorcade; 7 men are charged
http://www.lancasteronline.com/pages/news/local/7449?sessionID=843b9b02701d379b794ef5462604f5ef

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - The flag-waving, cheering throngs and banners for “Four More Years” were there. But the signs of discord and
disapproval with President George W. Bush were also amply evident Friday afternoon outside Lapp’s Electrical Service in Smoketown, where the president spoke. They were there as well along the 18-mile motorcade route to York, with the president surprisingly visible in the front of the bullet-proof, tinted- glass presidential bus.

The president had to see the thumbs-down gestures and John Kerry banners, perhaps even the occasional obscene fingers thrust skyward as his bus passed by them.

Six young men from Lancaster City wearing only thong underwear were arrested along Old Philadelphia Pike when they attempted to recreate the infamous picture of Iraqi prisoners forced into a human pyramid at Abu Ghraib prison.

<snip>

Anti-Bush signs seen along the parade route: “Liar,” “Thief + Liar + Murder = Bush,” “Words of mass deception,” “More trees, less Bush,” “Impeach Bush,” “Outsource Bush,” “Words of Mass Deception,” “Stop Killing Children” and “Like father, like son — 1 term only.”

2. Believe me..he likes it...
Just like he liked to have people put down in Texas. It's the power to be able to let you live or watch you beg for mercy and then zap you. He loves it. He is sick, as are all people that get power by robbing other's and hurting other's. That kind do fall, eventually, and have to eat each other in order to survive. What a way to live !

Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 04:20 PM by PoliticsSportsMusic
I couldn't read it...problems. Did the article say why they were arrested? Did they try and block the motorcade or something?? OOPS...I just reread...they were wearing only thong underwear...if that isn't illegal it should be..LOL...but good protest none the less.

8. Protesters greet Bush along route of motorcade; 7 men are charged
<snip> Six young men from Lancaster City wearing only thong underwear were arrested along Old Philadelphia Pike when they attempted to recreate the infamous picture of Iraqi prisoners forced into a human pyramid at Abu Ghraib prison.

The protesters stripped down to their underwear and formed their improv in front of a greenhouse, near where the president was to speak, East Lampeter Township police said.

Cited for disorderly conduct at 2:27 p.m. were: Jonathan Kohler, 21, of 735 N. Marshall St; Tristan Egolf, 32, of 337 W. Lemon St.; Russell Willard, 18, of 1511 September Drive; Adam Willard, 21, of 15 S. Lime St.; Benjamin Keely, 22, of 337 W. Lemon St.; and David O’Bryant, 21, of 208 Ruby St.

A seventh member of the group, who evaded arrest and identified himself as Spook Larue, said, “We met twice this week to practice, but we forgot to set up a cue for when Bush arrived.”<snip>

11. Adds support to the claim that Bush gave the finger to one them...
If you saw the post earlier, a person was in the crowd of protestors, near the human pyramid, carrying the sign "More Trees, Less Bush".

He says that Bush gave them the finger as he drove by. Everything about his story gels with this article (he said Bush was in the front of the bus, talked about the pyramid and the arrests, said what was on his sign, and that Bush flipped him off) except the article doesn't mention the finger EXCEPT to say the protestors did it.

It sounds like that guy was telling the truth.

18. Pierre Trudeau he isn't!
Canadians may recall that many years ago, Prime Minister Trudeau allegedly gave the finger to a woman in B.C. who was protesting outside his train window (the infamous "Salmon Arm Salute"). I don't think he ever denied doing this ... bet the Shrub will backpedal and claim it was "a digital malfunction".

45. Here it is:
Adam, Brendan, and I rose our banner (the More Trees, Less Bush one) and he turned to wave to our side of the road. His smile faded, and he raised his left arm in our direction. And then, George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States of America, extended his middle finger.

Read that last sentence again.
I got flipped off by George W. Bush.

And then there is Kerry and Edwards, smiling, saying words of encouragement, hugging their kids, hugging each other, showing off their beautiful wives and oh yes, showing off their great hair.

the repugs can just keep on doing and saying the nasty things. From where I come from, we believe "God don't like ugly"

23. Any evil Duers at this event?
Any DUers around who were there and can confirm/roll their eyes at the statement that the "anti-Bush crowd was outnumbered about nine to one"?

I do think the opening paragraph is--interesting. "Cheering throngs," yet with "discord and disapproval . . . amply evident." Gosh, that sounds almost balanced.

44. Was at the Kutztown, Pa. event Friday
And there were TONS more protestors lining the streets than admirers.
There appeared to be bussed-in crowds of people that the local alongside of us didn't recognize -- a very well-dressed crowd of attendees to Bush's talk who gawked at us like we were zoo animals.
There was NO WAY Bush could have seen the people lining the streets (and he was in the front of the second bus, waving) and think he is beloved. NO WAY....
