Costa Rica lawyer fights for marriage license

An openly gay attorney has appealed to Costa Rica's supreme court to challenge legal prohibitions against same-sex marriage, a court spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday. Yashin Castrillo submitted the appeal July 20 to the country's highest court after his request to be married to a male companion was rejected by a court dedicated to family matters, according to supreme court spokeswoman Maria Isabel Hernandez.

1. great news!!

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out here. I am sure the catholic church will be sticking it big fat nose into this soon. Most Costa Ricans however are very tolerant, accepting people and socially liberal compared to the rest of Central America. I think the country is ready. I would be so proud of my adoped home. Pura Vida!!
