N. Korea lashes out over defectors

SEOUL, South Korea -- North Korea has accused Seoul of committing "terrorism in broad daylight" after hundreds of defectors arrived in the South earlier this week.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency on Thursday reported Pyongyang as saying in a statement that all those involved in the operation "will pay a high price."

A shroud of secrecy has surrounded the defection of more than 400 refugees who have flown into the South from an unidentified Southeast Asian nation.

The refugees are believed to be from North Korea.

The mass defections fly in the face of a joint declaration made in 2000 between the two Koreas, an unidentified spokesman for North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Fatherland said in Thursday's statement.
