(Father of JonBenet) Ramsey loses bid for state House seat in Michigan
CNN Link Here

<snip>
CHARLEVOIX, Michigan (AP) -- John Ramsey came up short Tuesday in his bid for a state House seat after a campaign shadowed by the unsolved murder of his daughter, JonBenet.

Ramsey placed second among six candidates for the Republican nomination in the largely rural district in northern Michigan. He had 4,684 votes, or 24 percent, trailing attorney Kevin Elsenheimer by about 500 votes. Elsenheimer had 27 percent of the vote.

A cloud of suspicion has hung over Ramsey and his wife since the 1996 slaying of 6-year-old JonBenet, but no one has ever been charged. The district attorney and a federal judge in Colorado have said it is likelier that an intruder was responsible, as the parents insist.

2. The scary thing is that there are 4,700 idiots in that part of MI...
He should have gotten 2 votes, and been arrested for repeat-voting the next day.

3. More than the DA and a Federal Judge
One of the top murder investigators from Eagle County was called in to investigate and said it was an intruder. He acused the Boulder police of ignoring any facts that didn't fit with what they wanted to believe. Then, when he didn't endorse their bogus accusations against the Ramsey's they wanted him out.
Anyone who truly believes the Ramseys did it is either too busy listening to Geraldo Rivera and the lying media or is unwilling to look at facts and probably still believe that that security guard was the bomber in Atlanta.
Come on people. They didn't do it. Move on.

9. Since when is population a measure
of someone's competence as a murder investigator? The investigator in question, Lou Smit, is a highly respected detective.

Folks, I have let threads like this go for quite a while, but now must comment.

No one has a problem on this board with believing and understanding that the media is damned good at getting the facts wrong, and once wrong, damned reluctant to contradict itself.

No one on this board has problem believing and understanding that the police can and do routinely get obsessed with one suspect and will ignore another other possibilities no matter the evidence. I have listened to police detectives and prosecutors who even faced with DNA evidence, claim the "murderer/rapist" got off because they had a slick lawyer. They can NEVER entertaim even the slightest hint that they were wrong.

This is not helped when the suspect in question is viewed by the public as unsympathetic and/or arrogant. On this board since he was a Republican he's considered guilty as charged, and gleefully so.

This is unfair.

Liberals have a reputation as being fair and open-minded, and yet what I see here are folks who are simply prepared to take the word of the police and the mainstream media. Whereas, if the suspect were one of our own, a lot more research would be going on into the story.

I am no fan of child murderers and child molesters. I am also no fan of sloppy police work and journalism. I have looked at the investigation and how it was reported and find that the investigation was bungled and that the police fed the press a lot of lies to bolster their view of what happened. They have ignored evidence which contradicts their neat view of the murder.

A good analysis of the case can be found here:

http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/famous/ramsey/index_1.html

Please spare me any posts of an ad hominem nature. Either read the evidence, or don't. If you can't be bothered to read the actual evidence, then perhaps you should reconsider your political affiliation. Refusal to fairly examine an opposing viewpoint is indicative of another social and political philosophy.

Are we truly fair and just, or do we just say the words?

14. I don't believe the Ramseys did it either
but I still question the wisdom of people who allow their 6 year old daughter to be painted up like a hooker.

16. who dunnit? patsy done it- and the cops tried to frame...
...the guilty party, a la OJ. Bad, bad, prohibition cops couldn't solve a real crime if the guilty party came up and bit them on their ankles and confessed. Patsy and John's reaction to the crime of their daughter's murder was completely inappropriate- who hires a PR firm to handle appearances in the aftermath of a murdered child? Who stonewalls a Q&A with investigators when it's their murdered child's death in question? Who tries to capitalize on the fame gained from his daughter's death in order to gain political capital other than someone who looks good for it or covered it up? I mean, besides John Walsh, who's own son's murder caused him to go Hollywood- subsequently, someone else took the blame for cabana boy's kid's decapitation.

America is a desolate place- don't contribute to it by swallowing PR scenarios.
