Rev. Moon's submarines, sold to Kim Jong-Il, empower a nuke threat to the
Jane's Defense Weekly is reporting this week that Kim Jong-Il, unstable North Korean dictator may be able to target California with sea-launched missiles. His know-how, the Reuters story relates, comes from 12 ex-Soviet submarines that fell into his hands. They came with their original launch tubes and stabilizing gear intact. Where does Kim get those wonderful toys?

Funny story: According to U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency documents, they were furnished by Reverend Moon.*

22. Add to that running drugs
to finance all these weapons sales and covert ops.

That's why we needed to get that Afghan opium back on line, and Moon is the go to guy, for shipping things around.

5. Moon's the BFEE main money man.
He's funded all things Reich from Jerry Falwell to George Herbert Walker Bush and Kim Jong-Il. They all have in common a rabid hatred of freedom and the US Constitution. The means to their objective? Chimpageddon.

BTW: A hearty welcome to DU, mrsuomela! Whereyabeen?

6. World Peace thru Nuclear Weapon proliferation.
So when will Rev. Moonie be picked up and jailed as a terrorist? If this doesn't define terror, I doubt there's a better example in this world.

9. John Warner sponsored Rev Moon for use of the building
Isn't he a muckety muck on some defense committee?

He always has a nervous look. Maybe he's worried that selling out American security to Moon for $50,000 (just a guess) was too cheap.

I'd LOVE to see it as campaign spot: "Warner reserved the Senate room in which Moon, who sold Soviet submarines to NK, was crowned Messiah."

13. subs aren't necessary.
There are other ways. While we are pissing away millions worrying about truck bombers in NYC and Wash, far graver threats are present.

15. I don't think the DIA source docs are accurate
Edited on Wed Aug-04-04 03:25 PM by Snazzy
Just spent an hour or so trying to figure that out.

Redacted is where the information is coming from, though it appears to be a combination of press reports and something else.

Despite a bunch of google, I can't find a company called "Touen Shoji" which is what the DIA report calls it.

There are several non-proliferation sites at universities which describe the 1994 sale of then obsolete subs, 12 in total, some of which were GolfII which carry missiles, and some Foxtrot which do not.

Eg: http://www.nti.org/e_research/profiles/NK/Missile/65_686.html

Some reports cited (incl.d Wash Times, so watch-it, buddy) say the subs were rusting then and partially submerged. Some reports also suggest that only one sub made it there, and that Russia may have sent a team to make sure they were decommissioned. Unclear. But old subs in any case. These sites call the company "Toen Shioji".

The Jane's report that is available to non-subscribers does not talk about subs, although the Guardian says that it does. Main point of the article, whether it includes that or not, is a smaller missile that could fit a sub or other purposes.

Steve Hassan's anti-cult website has a Moonie company called "Toa Shoji" as do a couple of other anti-Moonie sites (seems to be same list).

A Japanese trade directory has a "Toun Shoji" which is in the business of selling transportation equipment. "Toa Shoji" is in the same directory, but they sell flowers. Sounds like the DIA report has the moonie link wrong to me. Everybody is messing this up, I think, in going to Roman versions of the Japanese name.

Our modern subs would also eat these for lunch way before they got anywhere near anything useful, in this hemisphere anyway.

Edit: DIA report also said that the information in it had not been evaluated. As we know from the Office of Special Plans, you can abuse raw intel if you don't know wtf. So, props to the author for Iran/Contra, but think this needs a doublecheck.

16. Red Moonie Sub Attack!
Unreal, isn't it? Well, the company referred to is "Touen Hoji," which I could not find, either, though I searched a bit in Japanese. I am not sure of the correct character combination for "Hoji" so it may be that I was just off the mark.

Anyhow, there are a number of Japanese companies that do business with NK, most affiliated with yakuza if I understand correctly.

If you go to the next page, at the top:

http://www.consortiumnews.com/moondocs/moondoc2-3.htm

they have it as SHOJI.

Would be useful though if I actually spoke Japanese. Do those names come close to meaning something that translates? Was thinking that's why I can't find better answers.

Here's that trade directory (oops, I see it's a Chinese listing of Japanese exporters, more confusion):

http://data1.ccn.mofcom.gov.cn/pls/wdat/b_query.b_detail_company?p_corpid=554444

Had to check this out, Moonie NK nuke subs is all the world really needs to push us over the edge. Sounds like a great comic though.

20. WAIT! WAIT!
Doesn't this mean that Sen. John Warner was dealing with an arms trader when he allowed Moon to be coronated on the floor of the Senate a couple of months ago? That whole flap now takes a new turn!
