IRS to Scrutinize Pay of Charities' Execs
From the moonie times (I read so you don't have to)

IRS to scrutinize pay of charities' execs

Washington, DC, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Internal Revenue Service said Tuesday some 2,000 charities will be reviewed under a new IRS enforcement effort to see if they're overpaying their executives.

"We are concerned that some charities and private foundations are abusing their tax-exempt status by paying exorbitant compensation to their officers and others," said IRS Commissioner Mark Everson.

may I gently suggest any 'charity' headed by one Pat Robertson as a good place to start?

2. good idea IMO!
and they can START with the MS Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Assn. of America and as far as I'm concerned, throw the American Cancer Society in there too! Damn "organizations". What do these places in particular really do for people with these illnesses other than send out literature and possibly, in the case of the Cancer Society pay for travel/lodging for medical care.

These place pay people big $ and what exactly to they do? I'd really LIKE to know!

GO FOR IT IRS!

:dem: :kick:

3. After that, how about going after
all those rich folks who find ways to avoid paying taxes. Bush verified that fact today.

4. many of these "people" are the elite
and they are *'s compassionate conservative base and don't believe for one second that someone isn't pocketing loads of bucks and paying no taxes at all on the scheme of the day.

OUT THE DOOR IN '04! And that goes for these B.S. organizations as well. Granted, some may be for real, but many are total rip-offs!!

5. I just hope this isn't a witch hunt to pick on Jesse Jackson
I know they have been howling for a while about his foundations, it would be just like them to sic the IRS on him because he's a Democrat. Nothing like some made up scandal about a Democrat to keep the attention away from where it really belongs.
