DANVILLE, Va. - Two months after laying off 312 workers, textile manufacturer Dan River Inc. announced Wednesday it will cut 375 more starting in October as it closes two plants.
Dan River Director of Human Resources Calvin Barnhardt blamed the layoffs on the continued pressure from foreign textile markets and efforts by clothing companies to reduce their inventories.

"Our announcement today reflects our need to reduce our manufacturing capacity to be more in line with what we anticipate our sales will be."
