Saturation coverage greets Kerry's tour through 82 small media markets
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Arizona Daily Sun characterized John Kerry's Sunday night rally in Heritage Square as "practically the second coming" and devoted its entire Monday front page to the blessed event.

Stories examined the opinions of undecided voters in the crowd, Teresa Heinz Kerry's speech, Indian issues and, for balance, protesters supporting President Bush.

You can't buy that kind of publicity. And that, in large measure, was the point of the Democratic presidential nominee's 4,971-mile trip from Boston to Oregon by bus and train, which ended on Friday.

A recent study by the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University found that, on a cost-per-vote basis, it's more effective to send a presidential candidate into smaller media markets than to buy advertising in major television markets. While millions of eyeballs see 30-second spots, local visits are better at moving voters, the research found..........MORE...........

3. At the end it tells how a river trip really helped Gore carry
the river towns, gaining Iowa and Wisconsin. His numbers shot up then.

Sounds like the locals are carrying some great footage in their coverage.

5. latest Bush commercial
Have you seen "which child to pick up first" yet? In Central Pennsylvania, we're getting it hourly, and it's really bizarre. I'd been sticking up for Laura--so she's a little backward and she made a bad marriage decision, but she did start a national book festival, which is neat--but in this one I see what other people mean when they say she's a Stepford or a zomby. Scary!

6. Kerry even got favorable coverage in our small-town RW rag.
With the added bonus of LTE talking about how boorish the Bush/Cheney disruptors were.

8. best not to feed the media money by buying ads on their shows
only to have their media put it down or misconstrue it... I like the face time tooooooo

Does a lot more to rouse the base....although here locally they were not kind on the news....said bush supporters out in force....50 of them at most....against 4000 for kerry....and of course they had to have the rw and senator..shrock who is going out of office this year,,,,when we vote him out....

But many of these small towns where you don't have pat robertson, you have a chance of getting to them without the media twisting the words...

10. Loved the Kerry Flagstaff Fest....
It took me two days to get my voice back. This thing of having over equiped police protection at rallys, those are just republican scare tactics. We did not see not even one police officer wearing any of that scary nazi gear at the Flagstaff rally. The police acted normal, were pleasant and helpful.

There were over 20 thousand people there, there was plenty of water bottles given out, even candy, and we didn't see any senior faint. We did see them dance their butties off.
