Nelson invites Kerry to view damage from Charley
The Associated Press

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry may visit Florida on Friday to view the damage from Hurricane Charley.

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson invited Kerry on Wednesday, saying "he may well be the next president and the federal effort is going to have to be a long one. From our experience with Hurricane Andrew, it's going to take many years."

Matt Miller, a Kerry campaign spokesman in Florida, said, "This is something John Kerry would very much like to do. We are working with Sen. Nelson on the appropriate timing and considering Friday as a possibility."

1. Good for Bill Nelson, and I'm certain Kerry will accept the invitation.
Is Kerry expected in Florida in the coming days?

3. Cool! Good reasoning, too! It was right that Kerry didn't
show on his own but now that he is invited by a Senator from Florida, Great!

I remember that guy that Nelson beat in 2000..I can see his face but not his name..oh well.

4. Kerry should go
If he was invited, he should go. This shows he's ready to keep the ball rolling on these repairs Florida will need for many years.

5. Hope Kerry brings a crew and gets his hands dirty....
doing actual cleanup helping out the residents. Not like little fool bush, the photo opportunist and his foking big head broker.

6. Exactly...
It'd be a great political move.

But at the same time, I'd like to see every member of Congress down there, getting their hands dirty, helping deliver supplies, and really communicationg with the victims. How can they legislate when they don't understand the common man?

This is what I admire and love about Edwards. He goes out among his people and doesn't talk with them...he listens.

7. Pretty sad that a candidate for Prez
has to wait for an invitation.
