Bush campaign won't stop running Olympics ad despite query from U.S. organizing committee

Friday, August 20, 2004

President Bush's re-election campaign will continue to run a television ad that mentions the Olympics, despite questions about whether that violates the bylaws for the games.

U.S. Olympic Committee officials have contacted the campaign about the ad and are awaiting a reply, USOC spokesman Darryl Seibel said Friday in Athens.

Campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel said Friday there are no plans to pull the ad.

7. If the IOC doesn't sue the FEC will have it for lunch,
since it's contributing (by not suing) the Olympic trademark to the Bush presidential campaign, and therefore, an illegal campaign contribution.

10. IBM Treaty? Cheney you! Anti-Landmine Agreement?
Piddleshtuff. Violating the bylaws of the Olympic games and shrugging off the traditional Olympic cease fire? Pfaa. Man, are we sure Bush isn't the reincarnation of one of the slavemaster bastards that came over here, signed treaties with the native americans, and then gave them blankets with smallpox (biological warfare in an earlier life too) so they could get the land cheap cheap...? I mean, could these guys be any more shamefully skuzzy?
