Laura Bush wades into war on terror at Republican national convention
NEW YORK (CP)

Laura Bush tackled the war on terrorism Tuesday, while Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed Republicans as the best guardians of the American Dream at the Republican party's national convention.

Laura Bush, introduced via satellite by her husband, President George W. Bush, used the stage to applaud his courage in helping to "liberate millions in the most historic struggle my generation has ever known."

"I am so proud of the way George has led our country with strength and conviction," she said in prepared remarks. ..

"Our parents' generation confronted tyranny and liberated millions. As we do the hard work of confronting today's threat, we can also be proud that 50 million more men, women and children and Afghanistan live in freedom today thanks to the United States of America and our allies." ..

1. Sooo..Laura doesn't read papers either?
...50 million more men, women and children and Afghanistan live in freedom today thanks to the United States of America and our allies." ..

She probably didn't get the memo about the Taliban uprisings, the warlords, assassination attempts, etc.....

2. She hasn't a clue,...
,...as a co-dependent and individual who has never had to actually "make it" on her own.

She is as ignorant as any "Abercrombie et al." would condemn.

I propose an "IGNORANT SILVER-SPOON-FED" tee.

Whaddya think?

3. I don't know how much more this world can take of Bush liberation.
I suppose, in Bushworld, Hitler was liberating Poland and Tojo was doing the same in Manchuria.

4. "The most historic struggle my generation has ever known," What about
Vietnam, sweetie. A struggle that lasted for over a decade and saw over 50,000 young Americans, many with purple hearts, die.

Jeez, what does the GOP have against Vietnam Neterans?

I s'pose because maybe if they acknowledge that war, then George's whereabouts might become significant at last.

9. GOP vs Vietnam Vets
"Jeez, what does the GOP have against Vietnam Neterans?"

Envy? Sou grapes, for want of a better term?

I sense a lot of self-justification on the part of chicken hawks who had other priorities than serving in the military. Not that I blame anyone who tried to avoid service in Vietnam: I would have too if the draft included women. But I detect a lot of people who didn't go and now 35 years afterwards have to denigrate others' efforts because not to do so would make the chicken hawks look bad.

7. This is repulsive!!
The fact that these people are still lying about "liberating" Iraq is sick. It just goes to show how out of touch they are with reality. I hope the party moderates see this, and decide it's time for an end to this bullshit propaganda, regardless of their political views.
