Charges against Chalabi 'dropped'
Ahmed Chalabi, the Iraqi politician and former US favourite, has said that criminal charges against him in Iraq have been dropped.
A judge issued a warrant in August over an alleged counterfeit operation but no action was taken for Mr Chalabi's arrest when he returned to Iraq.

Mr Chalabi also announced that murder charges had been dropped against his nephew, Salem, currently out of Iraq.

The fact of the charges being dropped could not be immediately confirmed.

2. Hmmmmm.....not sure who is behind his release
Was he a bargaining chip in the recent Pentagon spy-gate 'discussions' between Perle, Wolfowitz, et al, and the FBI?
Or did Chalabi use muscle and bribes to work over the local judges in Iraq?

The assassination attempt tells me that SOMEONE isn't pleased.

3. There's a reason why the charges were dropped
Now he's an easy target for assassination.

There was an attempt on his life yesterday.

5. Of course. It would be unseemly to have these charges pending
against the future "President" of Iraq.

10. In exchange for his brother bestowing upon the CIA more intel
while brother-dear is in a drunken stupor, as he was when providing to the FBI/CIA the "conclusive evidence" that Iraq needed the shit bombed out of it?
