Georgia Democrats not cheering for Miller now
ATLANTA (AP)

.. Brian LaRose, a former Miller campaign worker and organizer of one of Wednesday's Miller- watch parties, declared, "Zell Miller has turned his back on Democrats in Georgia. Tonight we're going to turn our backs on him." ..

Democrats also were gathering at Manuel's Tavern for what was billed as a "Give Zell Hell" party, a play on the 1992 "Give 'em Hell, Zell" signs bounced in the air at the Democratic National Convention. ..

State Democratic Party Chairman Bobby Kahn declared, "Sen. Miller is a great warrior who stayed on the playing field too long."

He called Miller's speech "a negative attack by a bitter man who's turning on his principals and his old friends at the end of his career."

"The speech doesn't hold up to the facts," Kahn added. "Sen. Miller, himself, praised Sen. Kerry as an authentic American hero and rightly said that Sen. Kerry worked to strengthen America's security."

The party said Miller called Kerry "one of this nation's authentic heroes" in introducing him in 2001 to a state Democratic Party dinner.

10. Those poor, poor goats.
But there is another group who has documented evidence against Zell - the Pig-Fuckers of America. Zell is a card-carrying member. And now these heroic Goat-fuckers come forward - a truely great day for American politics!

(By the way - hey, Billy! :hi: )

Sad to see someone go mad from the tertiary effects. Hopefully he'll die a mercifully quickj death from it.

Contrary to popular opinions, goats don't like trash. They have much more refined taste and they wouldn't lick Zells ball if he dipped them in sugar.

6. he had (emphasis on "had") principles?
All I've ever seen of this creep is that he votes 95% of the time with the pukes.

So what were those principles? Or was it "principals" that he had when he was in school?

7. Terry McCauliffe said...
Zell is trying to sell his book. He said, if he was just another Republican trying to sell a Dem bashing book, he'd get nowhere. Being a Dem trying to sell a Dem bashing book gives him a little edge.

Posted on Thu, Apr. 29, 2004

... Zell Miller, Georgia's maverick Democratic senator, said yesterday on the Senate floor that the nation ought to return to having senators appointed by legislatures rather than elected by voters...

Keyes is also singing this song. I'm beginning to see a Republican theme.

24. Thanks for the link for those of us who didn't know him when he was decent
Maybe it's a brain tumor......

He doesn't have the good sense to know how he has shamed himself. At the end of a long political career, he has trashed his entire life, and reduced his credibility to nothing.

There's no fool like an old Zell.

39. You might wanna check your date; Cleland ran in 2002, not Zell.
Zell was appointed, than ran for the seat in 2000 after Paul Coverdale died.

The midterms of 2002 saw the defeat of Max and Cynthia, both of which helped convince me that I needed to get the hell out of Georgia and back to my real home after almost 8 years of Atlanta living.

13. After tonight's speech
Zell is going to have to find a new state to call home--probably Texas. People are not going to forget tonight's betrayal. Sure, there's probably a lot of Republicans there, but he's going to have to live with scorn from the rest of the state for the rest of his life.

That's one in every 4 people that you encounter. Over a few years, that will add up to a lot of headaches over time.

And this is the type of "upset" that one doesn't get over as time passes.

38. Yeah, that same brilliant stock that took up arms...
to defend the ruling class's right to own slaves in the Western Territories. They were stupid enough to think that the uberclass gave a good crap about their dirt-poor lives in the 1860s, and their CSA battle-flag luvvin' progeny still believe this.

Put short, the "native" GAians will welcome Zell as a brave, bold hero, just as they're lauding Bush as a brave, bold hero. These aren't the brightest lights on the tree, folks.

One important thing, though--GA's population growth is coming, of course, from people outside the state, mostly from the North (and from Latin America). Demographics are going to change this place pretty abruptly, but that's another ten years from now, when all the transplants actually get around to registering to vote and caring about local politics.

As, a Georgia resident I know that Zell has not changed. In GA he is a democrat. BUT he would have won the seat as a Republican. Don't let them fool you. Most people in Zell's district like Zell EVEN more now.

Also, in Young Harris, GA where Zell will spend the rest of his time, they are quite consertive and would love him anyway for all the good he did for GA as Governer. (Hell, because of the HOPE program that he brought to GA, my college was paid for by the state of GA)

32. Voting against a pork-laden appropriations bill
...for the record, means you're "against" everything that might've been funded by it. It's an old game (we Dems have done it a zillion times as well) and Zell played it a lot in his speech.

I've been watching this soggy old cracker for a few years here in GA. Coupla things to remember:

1) He's a publicity whore. His "I'm a Dem votin' for Bush" schtick is all about drawing attention to himself, nothing more. We shouldn't talk about him like he's "lost" his mind (he hasn't--not that there is much up there to lose). He's just making things comfy for himself when he settles back into the semi-retirement in Young Harris, GA (a tiny mountain town).

2) He's a publicity whore, pt. 2. Best example I can think of hits me every time I pop open an older book my child has checked out of the library. Seems back in 1998 Zell, as GA gov., funded some statewide book-buying initiative. Good Thing, right? Sure. Except, in order to make sure everyone knew about this selfless act of decency for years to come, Zell had the state plop a big ol' glossy sticker on the inside front cover attesting to this selfless act of decency. Every time I look at that sticker, I wonder how much the state paid on these stickers, and how many books they weren't able to procure because this publicity whore had to call attention to himself.
